This resource is versatile and can be tailored to the needs of individual students. It can be used in the classroom or at home for additional writing practice. This can be used as a reference or as a typing exercise to improve keyboarding skills. The use of pangrams adds an element of fun to the often tedious task of penmanship practice, keeping students engaged and motivated. Pangrams use all 26 letters of the alphabet and can be used to check letter formation or for a little extra penmanship practice. Are you math teacher and have been thrown into teaching a computer science course? Now you have NO IDEA where to start! Have you taught computer science, but want to try something else? Math and computer science are related, but are not the same!

I have your back. I've been teaching math and computer science, including APCSP, APCSA, and Data Structures for almost two decades. I also teach an introduction course. This is part of the course I made up for my intro students. I have a BS in computer science and know what students need to know.

This is part 6 of an introductory Programming in Java course. These lessons are meant to be done over a few days; the idea is to get students doing cool stuff as fast as possible. With Java, that is NOT an easy task.

All lessons will come with the following:

Depending on your style, you could go over the slides as a group, then let students play around. Or you could just give them the slides and assignment and let them go.

Let students explore and make mistakes. Let them talk to each other and discuss their approaches. Programming takes a lot of trial and error and collaboration.

Lesson Overview

In this lesson, students reflect on their learning for the year using a set of prompts and creating a video using Canva (free, online software). A tutorial is included for the project, along with student expectations, instructions, prompts, and a grading rubric. This is a great way to let students reflect on their learning for the year and to share memories.

It was designed for middle school (grades 6-8) but could be used equally as well in high school classes.

Materials Required:

· Computers with Internet access for each student (or pair of students)

· Software such as Microsoft Word or Google Docs

Geographical web quest which introduces kids to the continent of Antarctica. There are 10 web quests(with lots of information in the questions), 14 Did You Know? facts, comprehension questions(including several "thought question"), a teacher page with a number of extension activities, additional links and key.
