Irregular past tense verbs Google Sheets Winter pixel art
By TamiaDesigns
English language learners, and others, often need extra practice with irregular verb forms. This engaging online pixel art activity in Google Sheets gives students practice with the spelling of irregular simple past verb forms. It is a self-checking activity - they will get immediate feedback as to whether they got the answer right or not. There are 20 different irregular verbs included in each of 3 different puzzles for a total of 60 different verbs. There are no question forms and no negative forms in this activity.
Each puzzle presents students with sentences with a verb in parentheses that they need to write in the simple past form. As students complete the sentences correctly, not only does the picture start to appear, but a ‘smiley’ image appears beside the word to confirm that their answer is correct. Once they have completed all the sentences correctly, in addition to seeing the completed picture, the sentence “You did it, you got them all right!” confirms that they have finished the activity. To teachers, this activity may seem like "just" a worksheet, but most students seem to be motivated by pixel art and the immediate feedback - my students asked for more after they were done with these!
You will get a PDF with links to make your own copies of each of the three puzzles.
