This project can be completed at any time of the year. I like to end my Nature of Science, CER or Scientific Method unit with this amazing and memorable project. The timing is perfect, as we finish around Halloween!
With this editable and printable activity, engagement skyrockets as students learn about famous scientists of the past. I encourage my kiddos to dress up in period costume and present their learning as if they are the scientist they researched. There are options for the less bold of your students (hand puppets and dolls). Students and parents remember this project for years to come.
Exemplars are included to give your kids a place to start and to get their creative juices flowing. This project can be used for distance learning or in person. It can be easily assigned digitally or on paper.
This assignment is aligned Common Core Writing & Next Generation, Middle Years Program and other International Science Process Skills and Research Standards.

The project is divided into fourteen sections, including the front pages. Sections include Language/Population, Habitat/Geography, Family Structure, Government, and several others. Each section has a list of criteria and questions that must be answered to complete the section.
I would expect a single student to take about ten weeks, with a weekly goal (perhaps a little faster) of completing one section.
There is a score for each section and teacher info on ways to make it work.
The project contains a cover sheet, a teacher's page, two student pages and a sheet to help students select an appropriate civilization.
There is also a list of civilizations that have an abundance of information available on line.
Julius Caesar Biography Writing Unit | 3rd Grade & 4th Grade

The NO PREP unit has been split into four separate lessons and is perfect for students in third grade or fourth grade. The first lesson is interactive and involves students cutting out facts, and then sorting these facts into paragraphs. In the second lesson the students need to use these facts to write four paragraphs. Then, in the third lesson children need to choose the most important facts and include these in an introduction; after this they need to answer several questions on a prompt sheet before writing up their conclusion. In the final lesson students need to check their draft paragraphs for mistakes before writing up their work on to a neat copy on the template provided.

Deal Education - ASL and English Presidents' Day Research Report Template

This product includes a research report template. Students will answer the following questions: name of president, when the president was born, when the president died, how many years in office the president was, how many terms the president served, who the vice president was at the time the president was in office, two challenges the president faced, two accomplishments the president achieved, and three interesting facts that were learned. There is a section for students to print out a picture or draw a picture of the president. At the end of the template, there is a section for resources as well. Signs are provided for each question throughout the template.
There is an example provided at the end of the template as well that includes information about George Washington.
The students finished product could be made into a vertical poster (as seen in the thumbnail photo) and glue the black sections to the back of each page or cut the templates out and create a booklet.

A scrappy quilt uses a variety of different fabrics that may or may not use a consistent theme. In this new version of cut and paste, students will make a scrappy quilt using a variety of pattern blocks included in the activity. The students must complete a set of questions or activities to know what numbered pattern to use and where it should be placed on their quilt. Each quilt has its own color scheme (color chart) and those are the colors students will need to create a one-of-a-kind scrappy quilt. Each quilt comes with a header, and some have additional activities students must complete to finish their quilts. Each quilt once assembled with header is 11x14 inches (does not include the size if a quilt has an additional activity).
