This is a great resource for your students to practice rounding numbers to the nearest hundred. Students will practice their skill of estimation by rounding to the nearest hundred and then continue to add or subtract their rounded number. These two pages of practice offers a concise, yet thorough approach to rounding to the nearest hundred and estimating sums and differences.

• 2 pages of practice where students will round numbers then add or subtract to find the estimate. One side of the worksheet students will circle the best estimate and the other side they will write out the solution.

Double digit Addition with Regrouping Activity #2

This resource includes 40 interactive Google slides, 6 printable worksheets, and an Easel Ready Activity for students to practice adding double digit numbers with regrouping. This math center uses the place value strategy of base 10 blocks to practice solving addition problems with 2 digit addends up to 199. 

The interactive slides allow students to drag moveable base-10 blocks into the tens and ones place to model the addition problem. Students can practice regrouping 10 ones for 1 ten and 10 tens for 1 hundred using this place value strategy. This is a great visual hands-on activity to help students conceptually understand how to regroup numbers so they can be successful with the standard algorithm. Every slide gives students the opportunity to practice the problem using base-10 blocks and the standard algorithm.

The resource also includes a blank worksheet template as well as a blank slides template to create additional problems for your students!

The slides and worksheets are divided into two differentiated levels. The first resource allows students to practice adding double digit numbers with regrouping 1x  and the second resource allows students to practice adding double digit numbers with regrouping 2x in both the ones and tens place. Each slideshow contains a video link that models how to add double digit numbers using base-10 blocks. 

This resource can be used in Google Classroom for math centers, independent practice, distance learning, or for small group mini-lesson. In addition, this can be used as a teaching resource for a whole class lesson.  Simply project the Google Slides presentation on the whiteboard, use the moveable pieces to model each problem, and give students the worksheet or place value mat to follow along with the lesson.

Do your students need practice in identifying the value of digits in 2-digit numbers or in breaking down numbers into ones and tens? This online, activity in Google Slides using base ten blocks (MAB blocks) will give them plenty of practice, and help develop their understanding of how numbers are made up! Students are presented with two numbers at a time to build by dragging one and ten blocks onto the work mat. The numbers are paired (13 and 31 for example) so that they can easily see how where a digit is placed affects its value. (The numbers 11, 22, 33, 44, 55, 66, 77, 88, and 99 are not included in this activity.)

This makes for a great independent math center activity, or you can project the activity for a whole group look at how to build numbers. There are a total of 45 cards and 90 different numbers between 1 and 98 for students to build. This activity is similar to another one in my store which also asks students to build the number and type the number in words. (Very useful for English language learners who may need help distinguishing between the -ty and -teen numbers.) The other is a customizable template - you decide which numbers you want the students to build on each slide, whereas this activity is a potential time-saver for you as it is ready to go. Buy them as a bundle so you have the convenience of the paired numbers already set up, and the flexibility to create your own question sets!

Activity 1: Place Value Sheets (pp 2-20): Each page focuses on numbers in ascending order (pp 2-10). Starting at 10 and working their way up to 99. Pages include mixed practice as well (pp 11-20). Activity 2: Place Value Cards (pp 2-10, 19): Print these pages on card stock , cut out and laminate. Students can use dry erase markers to fill in the answers on the cards and they can be wiped clean in for repeated use! Activity 3: Place Value Cards with Answer Sheet (pp 21-27): Print the place value cards (pp 22-27) cut out and laminate for durability. Have students draw a card and record the number they have on their answer sheet (p 21). You can also laminate the answer sheet for repeated use. Activity 4: Place Value Least to Greatest (pp 22-27): Print the place value cards (pp 22-27) cut out and laminate for durability. Give students a set amount of cards and have them place the cards in order from least to greatest. Activity 5: Place Value Dice Game (pp 28-36): Print out the dice (pp 29-32) on card stock, cut out and assemble as dice. Print the desired recording page for students to use individually or in groups. There are two types of recording pages.
