These journal pages are designed to promote creative writing with an exciting "Outer Space" theme. This packet contains 10 writing prompts which can be used with beginning writers as well as students who are more accomplished writers. Blank lined writing pages are included for students who need more space for their stories.

This is such a fun creative writing activity. This activity has students work in a small group to create a fun and unique story. They will be passing around their writing outline to their group of 5. The first student will choose a character and their characteristics. Then fold the paper down so the next student cannot see what they have written. Student 2 will decide the setting and then fold the paper down again. This will continue to student 3 and 4 where they will choose the conflict and the solution. Then the original student will get their paper back and open their paper and use their outline to create their own creative story. This makes the writing a little bit challenging as they try to create a story that was chosen by their fellow classmates. This can also be a super fun and creative way to expand students writing by stretching them a little outside their comfort zone.

French HALLOWEEN Cutie Pairs Writing Prompt

A terrific, no prep activity for your blossoming K-4 French writers who may be struggling to take risks with their writing skills. The students absolutely LOVE this activity and have been asking me for days when we get to do ‘le gateau et la crème glacée’. I gradually give students autonomy by giving them the freedom to talk about what they think the Food Pairs have in common.

What to do:

Make a class set of copies of one of the cutie pairs.

Students colour, write, and cut out the writing strip.

Finally, students cut and paste the ends of the writing strip to the back of each item in the pair. Fold in the middle and students can show the big reveal!

I personally use these texts with Grade 1 and Grade 2 students in French Immersion. I have included versions in both lined, dotted lined and unlined story pages for you to choose which will best suit the needs of your students. I did not include page numbers on any of the pages because I felt that it should be up to the students to decide the order that the story should happen. I also included story helper pages which are best used by letting the students have the story helper pages while they are looking at the illustrated pages.
