If you need an effective way for your students to practice sight words, these printable Sight Word Sentence Cards are a must-have for PreK and Kindergarten classrooms. They feature a mix of high-frequency words from the Dolch PreK and Kindergarten sight word list and may also be great for struggling readers in upper grades.

Each card has the featured sight word at the top, with and without primary handwriting lines. At the bottom, there is a sentence with the sight word underlined and in bold to make it easier for students to focus on the target sight word. Each one also includes a simple picture that correlates with the sentence.

Kindergarten Math Common Core I Can Statement Posters This is a set of kindergarten math common core I can statement posters. At my school we are required to post the I can statement that we are working on for each lesson. I was writing these out each day but decided to create posters that are large enough to be seen and to not take up too much board space. These posters will save time and still meet the requirement. I have provided a colored copy as well as a copy with only border no background color in order to save ink if you wish.

43 states have embraced a new set of academic standards called the Common Core State Standards. The purpose of the standards is to increase academic competitiveness in the US, while also preparing pupils for careers and college. These serve as benchmarks for what knowledge and skills in math and language arts kids should possess from kindergarten through their senior year of high school.

Many of the benchmarks are included in the Common Core at every grade level, but there are certain commonalities. Language arts standards emphasize using evidence to support arguments. Pupils will write more viewpoints and fewer personal stories in their writing. They will be required to read more nonfiction as well. The arithmetic standards cover fewer topics in more detail.

The idea behind the Common Core curriculum, also referred to as Common Core State Standards, was straightforward: if all kids were held to the same high academic standards, achievement and college preparation would increase.
