Strength cards showing different positive attributes. They can be used in a variety of ways to help children to recognise that we all have strengths and to acknowledge their own strengths.
Why do you need this?
Strength cards can help children recognize and acknowledge their own strengths, fostering a positive self-image and boosting self-esteem. By identifying their unique qualities and abilities, students can develop a greater sense of confidence and self-worth.
Encouraging students to focus on their strengths can build resilience and help them cope with challenges and setbacks. By recognizing their abilities and positive attributes, children can develop a more optimistic outlook and feel better equipped to overcome obstacles.
Strength cards can highlight the diversity of strengths and talents among individuals. By showcasing a range of positive attributes, teachers can emphasize the value of differences and promote acceptance and appreciation of others' strengths.
How and when might you use this?
These cards can be used in a variety of ways:
· Circle time - children encourage each student to choose a card that resonates with them and share why they selected that particular strength.
· Individual reflection - Encourage them to reflect on times when they have demonstrated that strength and how it has positively impacted them or others.
· Group discussions - Pose questions such as, "Which strength do you admire in someone else?" or "How can we use our strengths to support each other?"
· Peer recognition - Encourage students to recognize and celebrate each other's strengths.
· Goal setting - They can choose a Strength card that represents a quality they want to develop further or a goal they want to work towards.
What is included?
48 cards showing the words: graceful, sporty, brave, funny, caring, clever, helpful, playful, friendly, musical, intelligent, happy, loving, creative, artistic, strong, honest, respectful, adventurous, patient, joyful, sensible, cheerful, gentle, calm, protective, resilient, reliable, responsible, curious, persistent, forgiving, enthusiastic, hopeful, assertive, courageous, energetic, fair, organised, imaginative, proud, active, ambitious, careful, co-operative, hard working, loyal, kind
SEL Project: Students Create a Lesson
By Erin Cusumano
This project encourages students to choose an SEL topic of their own interest and create a presentation and activity as if they were delivering a lesson on it.
This project allows students to take the format of SEL lessons they've learned from and practice using it themselves to find, understand, and share information. This benefits individual students, as they can explore information of interest, and allows the educator to gauge what topics their students are curious about for future lessons.
If you have students present their lessons they also get practice talking about SEL topics and respectfully listening to peers do the same. I find this to be a great end of year project to wrap up SEL learning.
With presentations this project can be made to take up a whole week of SEL instruction (based on a 30-45 minute period a day). Day 1 students can hand in their topic and activity idea for teacher feedback, days 2-3 students can create the material, and day 4-5 students can present. Examples are simple for clarity and to suit a range of students, but expectations can be adjusted based on grade-level. This project includes a packet with clear instructions (with examples) and space for students to write their chosen topic and activity, an example slideshow, and two example activities that accompany the slideshow.

Secret Mission Behavior Management Activity to encourage positivity
By Until the Pieces Fit
Are you looking for an easy way to improve student behaviors? This is a fun, easy, print and go activity.
I use the secret missions with my students. Simply print the packet, cut out, and post the missions in your room (be sure to cover each mission with a "secret mission" card".
Then the magic begins. Each morning during your morning meeting time chose a kiddo to uncover a mission. Discuss the mission, the importance of it, what it looks like. I generally have a secret task force who also watches for the behaviors. Then when your children are "caught" they earn a party point/tally/ball (whatever reinforcer you use) for your class. Currently my kids are working to earn hot chocolate with toppings.
I hope this is something fun for you and your kiddos. Please be sure to follow me for additional resources and updates!

By La trousse de Madame
These fun and engaging posters aim to foster independence and autonomy in the French Immersion classroom for your young K-2 students. Posters are used as visual cues and reminders of morning routines helping students to do things on their own. Ideal for the Kindergarten to Grade 2 classroom.
