May Morning Meeting Work Slides

By Professional Development and Teacher Prep

Do your students need May Morning Meeting Slides? Using different May Morning Week can lead to tremendous growth academically and socially. The May Morning Slides can be utilized along with your greeting and other activities.  The May Morning Meeting questions should be used during the month of May with your students but could be used during other months too.

There are spring questions, Memorial Day questions, and others to celebrate the different holidays in May. All of the questions are on Google Slides that can be used every morning during your Morning Meeting routine. All you have to do is bring up the next Google Slide each morning for that day. There are 20 EDITABLE and DIVERSE slides just for the month of May! If you use my Morning Meeting Question of The Day (180 slides), you can use one question from that and one seasonal or monthly question each day. You would just ask two questions a day instead of one! =)

Students will create connections and develop deep discussions with the questions.  Therefore, the skills they are learning during Morning Meeting will lead to connections within their reading texts. Students who practice those skills outside of reading will most likely utilize those same skills while reading.

Additionally, the May Question of The Day will create deep relationships between you and your students! If you have my other Morning Meeting Slides then you understand how powerful these questions can be!

This is also an excellent resource to use with your remote learners or to assign to your students’ laptops. You could assign one or more slides to their learning management system for morning meetings or writing or reading activities.

“Morning Meeting is an engaging way to start each day, build a strong sense of community, and set children up for success socially and academically.” -Responsive Classroom

By Queen's Educational Resources

We Beat The Street Chapter 6 Questions, We Beat the Street Reading Comprehension

ABOUT THIS RESOURCE

★ Text: We Beat The Street

Chapter 6 Questions

16 pages

Print and Digital

Detailed Answer Key included

This resource includes:

1 Inference-Based Question "combo" Worksheet (contains all 5 questions together)

5 Inference-based Question Worksheets (on a separate worksheet)

5 Bulletin Board Task Display Pages (for each question worksheet)

1 Scoring Rubric

1 Blank Worksheet (for you to generate your own question!)

★ ANSWER KEY (very detailed!)

This resource focuses on CHAPTER 6 of We Beat The Street and features 5 inference-based questions that require students to demonstrate inferential thinking and a deep analysis of the chapter - beyond literal comprehension. Each inference-based question can be treated as an extended response where students must make inferences and support their responses, ideas, and/or analysis with evidence from the text.

► There is a "combo" worksheet, which includes all five questions on two pages. There are also 5 separate worksheets that include the same questions on a different worksheet. This allows for more extensive responses. You can have students either complete all five inference-based questions on the "combo" worksheet all at once OR you can have students complete each of the questions at different times: for classwork, independent practice, homework, or formative assessment - your choice! You can even give students different questions depending on their levels - excellent for differentiation.

► I also included a blank worksheet for you to generate your own question and students write it in the box!

► A detailed ANSWER KEY for the questions have been included. The ideas and evidence in the Answer Keys are accompanied by page numbers to help you facilitate discussion more smoothly and navigate to important ideas and events without looking for the information in the book. The Answer Keys are so comprehensive that you can even develop additional questions that will encourage students to engage in productive classroom talk!

► A 2-Point rubric is included for scoring with a section for comments and feedback at the bottom. Finally, there are five visually appealing Bulletin Board Task Display Pages to display with student work. The Bulletin Board Task Display Pages are personalized for each question worksheet! You have everything you need to score these assignments and display on bulletin boards immediately upon completion. It's a great way to showcase student work!

► This resource is also included in Google Slides! Text boxes have already been created to make it easier for you and your students! Each slide includes two instruction solution tabs for when students accidentally delete text boxes and when they want to zoom in (to enlarge worksheets). It's super helpful for students who are not that familiar with how to use Google Slides or need the extra assistance.

Multiple customizable 2 subject Venn Diagram templates - Google Slides

By TamiaDesigns

Venn diagrams are useful across the curriculum and very versatile! This collection of blank templates is perfect for organizing compare and contrast essays, summarizing similarities and differences between any two things, or taking notes while reading or listening. They are useful in literature, science, social studies and other classes. Having a digital version much easier for students to edit & make changes to than on paper, it saves paper, and ends up more legible and looking more professional so kids are proud of their work. You can, of course, print the basic Slides templates if you would rather have students work on paper! Because they are editable files, you can add customized text before assigning or printing if you would like.

This product consists of a Google Slides file with several different colored Venn diagram templates for comparing 2 items. Includes templates with overlapping rectangles to allow for more space for students to enter information, for a total of 21 templates. If you need your students to compare 3 or 4 items, check out the other Venn diagram templates in my store. Buy them together as a bundle to save money. The bundle includes ready-made (non-customizable) PDF versions of the files for ease of printing.

There are many ways to use these files! You could project the files, use them on an interactive whiteboard, or you could share a file with students to use on a computer. They can each have their own copy of the Slides file, or the activity can be collaborative if they are given shared access to the file. One version of the Slides template has text the students will edit to complete the diagram, another has editable text that the teacher will set up and then the students will drag the text boxes to the correct location. Depending on the topic, you and your students could use images instead of text within the Venn diagrams.

For perfectionist students, the digital version can be much less frustrating than working on paper as they can easily fix mistakes (putting an item in the wrong part of the diagram or misjudging how much space they need for something) and still end up with a beautiful final product with no evidence of erasing or changes!

The slides are shareable in all the usual ways Google Slides files can be shared with students for individual or collaborative assignments. To use the file, you will need a Google account.

****************************************************************************************

Terms of use:

Purchasing this product grants permission for use by ONE teacher in his or her own classroom. If you have colleagues who would like to use this file, please respect the time I have put into making this for you and direct them to my store to buy their own copy! Thank you!

Dialectical Journal for Reading Response | Lesson & Rubric Included

By Amanda Robinson

Ditch the reading logs; ignite your students' analytical fire!

The dialectical journal format becomes a springboard for engaging class discussions, fostering active participation and a deeper understanding of the text. I love to use these when we read short stories or novels when I want the students to notice something, but I want them to have the joy of discovery. Someone always, inevitably, picks up on what I wanted to highlight, and the added bonus is that other students get to share their insights, too. Dialectical Journals have been a great confidence builder!

Empower Students to Analyze, Question, and Create Meaning:

  • Go beyond summaries: Unlike traditional reading logs, dialectical journals encourage students to think critically about the text, prompting them to identify key quotes, analyze their significance, and connect them to their own thoughts and experiences.
  • Cultivate analytical skills: Students learn to question the author's intent, evaluate evidence, formulate their own interpretations, and ask their own questions.

Everything You Need to Get Started:

  • Teacher-Friendly Guide: Get a clear roadmap with a Teacher's Guide featuring an introduction lesson for dialectical journals/lesson suggestions.
  • Modeling & Practice: A sample journal page is included to model and practice the dialectical journal process with your students.
  • Ready-to-Use Dialectical Journals: Choose from Fiction or Nonfiction templates, easily printed as a weekly journal or stand-alone pages. Both formats include:
    • Journal Cover Page
    • Ideas/Concepts to Consider Page to prime students' thinking
    • 5 Journal Pages for efficient printing
    • Weekly Summary Page to encourage reflection and synthesis
  • Flexible & Adaptable: A PDF print version and Google Slides access (for all student pages) is included for a seamless transition into your existing classroom workflow.
  • Easy Assessment: Scoring Rubric (suitable for both fiction and nonfiction) simplifies grading and provides clear expectations for students.

I hope you'll find this resource as valuable in your classroom as I have in mine, and I hope it makes your teacher life a little bit easier in the process!
