Need an awesome Art Unit? I have just the thing for you! This creative 2-Point Perspective City artwork was designed to be printed and displayed as examples while you teach. Use this Google Slide file to display these beautiful images one-by-one on a large screen. For this assignment, I did a demo and taught the class how to use a ruler and a yardstick. Measurements and Math were a strong focus of the lesson. Next, students spent the rest of the first lesson practicing the use of a ruler and a yardstick. I taught the students how to do 2-point perspective with step-by-step slides. Students started on their Final Copy paper and created their own version of my example. Students used colored pencils, colored sharpies, or watercolor paint to color their Mandala Design. I hope you and your kiddos love this! Enjoy.

So the AP Spanish® Exam is over... now what?? The end of the year means that you can do FUN and CREATIVE things with students that keep them interested and motivated! This digital or printable art project is a great way to end the year and let students show off other talents! We also get the opportunity to do some cross-disciplinary work and collaborate with colleagues if you choose!

First students choose a global challenge to research- one that interests them!

Next, students imitate a style of art to create an original work of art that uses symbolism to demonstrate the theme of their artwork.

Finally, students write a detailed description of their thought process while planning their work as well as what elements of symbolism they used and why.

When the projects are turned in, the teacher can set them up (around the classroom or in another spot in your school). Their descriptions accompany their artwork. Included in this project are a gallery walk note-taking table as well as comment cards. Students enjoy getting feedback from their peers! And the gallery walk chart helps them engage with the work of their peers and to think more deeply.

Another great option is to collaborate with an art teacher or another Spanish class. You can also simply invite other classes to view your gallery, and administrators too! Let them fill out comment cards for your students!

How long will this take? It really depends! You may choose to let students do a lot of the research and planning in class, but you can also assign this for homework.

I find that the making of the art has to be done at home so that they have access to the supplies they need.

The writing of the description can be done in class or at home as well.

The gallery walk takes at least one class period. If you have multiple classes participating, you could allow more time if you choose.

• Students in Year 4 or AP® (though it can be modified for students who are not as advanced in their language yet!)

Looking for a way to have some fun while learning music? Look no further. This Graphic Scores Unit will have your students exploring how to represent sound using graphics and composing in no time! There are 3 main lessons included in this unit, however, the last lesson will likely take 6-8 lessons to put together and perform. This unit is one I have used with my own students so I know how much fun they have with it! The great thing with graphic scores is you don't really need any instruments to compose which makes this unit even better if you're teaching music on a cart or have limited resources available.

Overview:

This graphic score short unit exposes students to what a graphic score is. They get to represent sound using graphics and compose their own graphic score using found sounds. Students will learn how sound and music can be represented using graphics. They will practice representing a short piece of music through graphics. After, they will represent common soundscapes using their own graphics and will then create their own graphic score to perform. I created this in Google Docs/Slides so that you can customize this unit to your own unique needs.

Learning Goals:

• We are learning how to represent sounds and music using non-traditional notation.
• We are learning to compose a piece of music using found sounds and represent our sound using graphics.

Success Criteria:

• I can represent sound using graphics.
• I can compose a piece of music with a group and perform it using my score.

This creative Winter Concert Decorations: Art Unit was designed to be printed and displayed as examples while you teach. For this assignment, I asked students to get with a partner or into small groups and brainstorm subject matter, orientation, and theme of the overall composition. Plus, decide which group member(s) will be in charge of what to draw and where to draw it. Students will need to sketch out ideas first inside a sketchbook, transfer the sketches to Final Copy Paper, outline the large image, and start coloring in everything with crayon. Sadly, most other art materials will ruin the roll paper. I hope you and your kiddos love this! Enjoy!

Oh no! Thanksgiving is almost here and the turkeys do not want to end up a meal! Help the turkey’s escape by making them a disguise!

In this lesson, students will learn hear a read aloud of How to Catch a turkey, learn about wild turkey's habitat, prey, predators, and adaptations through detailed slides and vocabulary, label the parts of a turkey with an interactive activity, watch educational videos about turkey's, and learn why we eat turkey on Thanksgiving. Then students will be tasked to make a disguise for their own turkey's and write a paragraph about their designs.

You will need:

• Turkey cut out (provided in lesson)
• Construction paper,
  Card stock, cardboard, printer paper
• Paint, markers, or crayons
• Glue, glue stick, or hot glue

This creative Autumn Tree Collage: Art Unit was designed to be printed and displayed as examples while you teach. Use this Google Slide file to display these beautiful images one-by-one on the big screen. For this assignment, I asked students to make an Autumn Tree Collage celebrating the joy of the Fall season. Students get to choose three of their favorite leaf colors to work with. Students choose where the leaves will be on the branches, falling, blowing around, etc. Students learned cutting, gluing, and placing (overlapping) skills during this 2-to-3-Day Art Unit. In this lesson, students learn about famous photographers and their work. Students choose a photographer of interest (on their own or from a provided list) and then research specific information about them, creating a presentation in Microsoft PowerPoint or Google Slides. Teacher and student resources are provided for the lesson, along with full instructions and project expectation, including a grading rubric. A list of famous photographers is included separately for student choice (or students can choose a photographer of interest on their own). Two versions of the lesson are included to let teachers decide if they prefer to have students use the more traditional presentation tools of Microsoft Office or Google Slides or, if they prefer to give students a choice of those and various free Web 2.0 tools such as Prezi, eMaze, or Canva. Links for tutorials are provided for all suggested software choices in the student resources.

Perfect for business, art, history, social studies or career exploration classes. This lesson was designed for middle school (grades 6-8) but could be used in any secondary classroom.

This lesson is great for distance learning/remote learning. You can upload it to your school's learning management system (Google Classroom, Edmodo, Canvas, etc.) or share with students via Google Drive.
