There are a total of 32 different emotions for this set. Each card has a feeling/emotion side by side with the opposite feeling/emotion (accompanied by pictures for each). Example: cheerful/angry, energetic/tired, etc.

These Communication Cards are excellent tools to help your lower-level students learn and engage in basic communication with their teachers and peers. Students can be paired to help them practice these forms of basic dialogue. These cards can improve speech and language skills, communication skills, and social interaction with other students. The communication cards are all accompanied with humorous, student friendly clipart images to help students remember the words, sentences, and ideas.

You can:

  • Cut them out and put them on a ring.
  • Laminate and then cut them out for optimal quality.
  • Post them on the bulletin board or around the classroom.

  • Show your students an emotion card and ask them to write or discuss examples of situations that would cause someone to feel this way.
  • Show your students an emotion card and ask them what they would say to someone who is feeling this way. (This activity can help students develop and practice empathy.)
  • Show your students an emotion card and ask them to share their personal experiences of when they felt or experienced this emotion.
  • Put students in pairs or groups and give them an emotion card. Have them discuss different situations that would cause someone to feel this way (or experience this emotion.) Next, have them create a skit where they can perform the situation and emotion in front of the class.
