I did this today with my freshman advisory group as a New Year's Check-In. They loved it! I taught Middle School for the past 12 years and did something similar, but never actually had it on a formal worksheet. I would just say the questions out load and they would answer on paper.

As a teacher, I understand the importance of nurturing our students' well-being and providing them with tools to navigate the challenges they may face. That's why I'm excited to offer this "Mindfulness Mandala Coloring Page" as an extra assignment to encourage our students to consider mindfulness.

The captivating mandala design is created to capture their attention and transport them to a world of tranquility and creativity. Through coloring, students can find a moment of respite from the demands of their studies and immerse themselves in the present moment.

Each page includes prompts such as, "Imagine the mandala as a garden of emotions. Explore how different colors can nurture and cultivate the emotional landscape within you," provides a gentle invitation for our students to engage in self-reflection. As they select colors and fill in the intricate patterns, they can observe the emotions that arise and embrace the unique beauty of each stroke.

By incorporating mindfulness into their coloring experience, students can develop a greater sense of emotional intelligence and self-compassion. This assignment offers an opportunity for them to understand that emotions are fluid, and just like the mandala, they change and evolve over time.

I believe that promoting mindfulness among our students can help them manage stress, enhance focus, and develop empathy towards themselves and others. Encouraging this "Mindfulness Mandala Coloring Page" as an extra assignment is my way of supporting their emotional well-being and fostering a positive learning environment.

A "Pocket" Full of Kindness - An SEL Activity that focuses on kindness and the idea that you can take it with you wherever you go and "pull it right out of your back pocket" as the saying goes!! "Kind or Trash" gives a fun new outlook on discussing kind vs unkind actions for younger elementary students. While the discussion is great, this activity also gets them up and moving and looking forward to their turn! This activity had my classes engaged through the entire lesson and it created great conversation as well! The basket and recycling bin is a great visual for students as they are recognizing kind vs unkind actions.
