Do your students need additional support identifying money, matching dollar amounts to currency and make purchases using the "next dollar up" method? Functional money skills such as counting and identifying money to make purchases are critical to successful daily living. This No Prep Unit reinforces these skills with progressively harder tasks beginning with matching dollar to dollar, progressing on to matching prices with dollars, then using the next dollar up method to make a purchase. For first time BOOM Card™ users, the resource comes with an explanation of how to assign the cards to your class, and has lots of useful links to support you using the activity.

In Task 1 students will read an informational text about Christmas and then find their way through a maze by answering true or false comprehension questions. If they answer the questions correctly they will reveal their first word.

In Task 2 students will complete a crossword puzzle by answering ten questions. Answering these questions correctly will reveal some hidden letters which need to be unscrambled to reveal the second word.

In Task 3 students will sort 27 timeline task cards about famous holidays, putting them in order from the earliest date in the year to the latest. When they have finished, their third word will be revealed.

In Task 4 students will have to find the missing words in a wordsearch puzzle before finding a hidden word from the letters that are left over in the puzzle. This hidden word is their fourth and final word. All of the BOOM Cards™ activities are self-marking.
