How were they originally elected and what led to the changes in our system, leading to developing the Electoral College? It is essential that our students, as future voters, understand how our President and Vice President are elected every four years through the Electoral College. Students will explore, analyze, and summarize political parties using various avenues. In addition, they will look at the Electoral Process system and how events in history led to the ratification of the 12th Amendment. Students often can/will recite the basics of SOME of the Bill of Rights but often do not know how they apply to their personal life. They believe that it was written years ago and does not have any relevant meaning to the HERE and NOW. With this interactive activity, my US History and Government classes dived into the Bill of Rights and learned how to apply each of the Amendments to their personal life. This brought about outstanding debates in class (and online) about civil rights and liberties.

This was created as a PDF document to use in the classroom. There is also a Digital Learning Format where it can be assigned to students to complete in a virtual setting such as Google Classroom, Canvas, etc.

“China: One Question, Five Generational Perspectives” is a set of resources delving into the changing politics of the Chinese leadership over a seventy year period. This resource contains five files:

Highlighting the background and achievement of five generational Chinese leaders; Mao Zedong, Deng Xiao Ping, Jiang Zemin, Hu Jintao, and Xi Jinping.

• Part 1 gives a summary and major achievements of each 
• Part 2 Major differences, developments, and contradictions between generational leadership
• Part 3 looks at ten major changes from Mao to Xi and also ten things that have changed very little over the last 70 years.

This is a quick study on Queen Elizabeth II and how she governed during her 70-year reign. Having inherited the Crown at an early age, she was not ready to be Queen, but was thrust into the position overnight. This lesson was written the day after her passing in September 8, 2022, and is written in past-tense.

This a fun activity when teaching about the First Amendment and/or the Supreme Court. This resource has students analyze a "fake" law that has been challenged all the way to the Supreme Court as violating the First Amendment. Students need to decide, based on the facts given and the language of the First Amendment, whether the law is Constitutional.

They also need to write an "opinion" of the Court and present to the class or submit for a grade. I usually have them do this in groups, but could also be done individually as a short assessment.

Part of my Ms. Bie Ografe series of plays, this Reader's Theater Script is on the "Father of the Constitution", James Madson(1751-1836), and his sharing with students the history of the writing of the Constitution.
