This Africa book study unit is written based on the story of the Lost Boys in the book: A Long Walk to Water. This is a great way to study Sudan and its struggles throughout the years. It teaches how the goodwill of one person can have a domino effect and change the lives of many while exploring the geographical aspects, environmental issues, political issues, causes of the Sudan wars, resources, and cultures of Sudan. Team up with the language arts teacher and blend geography and language arts.

OBJECTIVES

This is a full unit plan for reading Lord of the Flies by William Golding through a choice of two different lenses: Psychology or Gender. You'll receive the full Unit Plan in a grid format, as well as every assignment for both lenses.

Students will be put in groups according to their chosen lens and will explore a number of resources pertaining to their lens. They'll complete a wide variety of assignments, including a Double Entry Journal, Socratic Seminar, Symbolism Word Splash and Explanation, Theme Formal Essay, and Characterization Creative Situational Writing. The directions and rubric are included for each assignment. Since it's in a Google Doc, it's all ready for you to post and have your students complete digitally, OR you can print it out and have then do it that way, too!

Need an awesome Art Unit? I have just the thing for you! This creative 2-Point Perspective City artwork was designed to be printed and displayed as examples while you teach. Use this Google Slide file to display these beautiful images one-by-one on a large screen. For this assignment, I did a demo and taught the class how to use a ruler and a yardstick. Measurements and Math were a strong focus of the lesson. Next, students spent the rest of the first lesson practicing the use of a ruler and a yardstick. I taught the students how to do 2-point perspective with step-by-step slides. Students started on their Final Copy paper and created their own version of my example. Students used colored pencils, colored sharpies, or watercolor paint to color their Mandala Design. I hope you and your kiddos love this! Enjoy.

Writing a play is a perfect project that gives students time to write about an event that happened in their life or an event that they made up. Once they are finished, they can share it with different groups of people and have their friends play each character. This packet includes information to share with your students about what a play is, what steps to follow when writing the beginning, middle and end of a play, why we write a play, who we write a play for, and tips to look for when rereading and editing. Ready to start AP Spanish® Unit 4: The Influence of Science and Technology?  No time to find all the authentic materials your students need?  Your Unit 4 Lesson Plans (Las influencias de la ciencia y la tecnología ) are done!  These digital AND printable lesson plans have nearly every activity you will need linked in.  Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking, Activities that combine 2 skills, Homework, Assessments, AP® Exam Style activities and even Projects are all included! I am fortunate to have several textbook resources including Temas, AP Spanish Preparing for the Language and Culture Examination and Avance.   In these lesson plans I make use of these textbooks for 3 out of 58+ activities.  But in the few cases that I’ve used these resources in the lesson plans, I have included links to alternatives.  However, especially after teaching on-line for a year, I have moved away from relying on textbooks and I create most of the activities myself. This makes these lesson plans very versatile and usable for anyone!  For teachers who need or like to teach digitally, all of the activities in this bundle can be assigned via Google Classroom or other learning management system. And almost every activity is also printable for teachers and students who prefer paper copies.  Best of all, once you have these activities in your Google Drive, you can edit and adapt anything to suit your needs!

I have been teaching AP Spanish Language and Culture® since 2014 and have 24 years of teaching experience.  My students have done overwhelmingly well on the AP exam over the years and almost all have earned the scores needed to get college credit, with many receiving 4’s and 5’s. 

I start the year with a set of lesson plans designed to last one week.  It is linked below.  We do all the paper-passing, signing up for different apps and classrooms, and become comfortable with the course and our classmates.  We also present our summer homework, also linked below.  Next I teach Unit 1: Families in Different Societies. This unit (Unit 4) starts as if all of the beginning of the year “housekeeping” has been done already and logically follows units 1, 2 and 3 where I present all the different tasks of the AP® Spanish Exam.   The previous unit plans are also linked below.  AP®teachers are allowed to teach the units in any order they would like, but I recommend that if you plan to use this series of lesson plans, that you go in order. I choose to introduce the AP® test open-ended tasks over time so that students are not overwhelmed, though it is not a necessity if you have your own way of preparing students for the AP® Exam..  By unit 3, they will have learned the purpose, rules and resources for all of the tasks and can spend the last 3 units practicing them some more.

The Native Americans unit contains around 100 pages total with adapted text and activities. This unit is designed for students with intellectual disabilities and autism but can be used in general education elementary grades or ELL.

This unit addresses how Native Americans lived, how they lived differently in different parts of North America, and how they obtained food to survive. Through this unit, students will make connections between how they live their lives today vs. how Native Americans lived long ago.

This unit provides opportunities for repetition in the classroom, which is essential for students with intellectual disabilities, as well as the use of visuals.

There are three versions of the text (Levels 1-3). Level 3 is the longest version of the text. Level 2 is a shorter version of the Level 3 text. Level 1 is a shorter version of the Level 3 text but contains pictures in the text to assist students who learn more visually. All books have large print and numbered pages.

This Unit Includes 3 versions of the text, text comprehension questions (Level 3 version), 15+ activities, and 4 versions of an assessment test and a True/False assessment.
