Objective: The objective of the game "Oops" is to get your teammates to guess a word without using certain pre-defined words or phrases associated with it - these are called "Oopsies"

Gameplay:

  1. The clue giver selects a number from the selection board, revealing the word to be described as well as the "oopsies" associated with it.
  2. The clue giver must then describe the word without using any of the "oopsies".
  3. The guessers on the team try to guess the word based on the clues given. The guesser sits with their back turned to the slide, while the clue giver faces the slide.
  4. The guesser can make as many guesses as they want within 1 minute.
  5. If a teammate guesses the word correctly, the team earns a point. However, if the clue giver uses an "oopsie," they forfeit a point.
  6. After the minute is up or the word is correctly guessed, play passes to the next team.
  7. Play continues back and forth until all the slides have been used or a set number of rounds has been completed.
  8. The team with the most number of points wins.

Learn and practice continuity and discontinuity with this complete lesson. In this print and go lesson, you can print all 7 pages out and give it out as a packet to start the topic. Have them start off completing the word search with vocabulary associated with the continuity & discontinuity. Go through the guided notes on continuity and discontinuity examples with them (or they can do it alone with the guidance of the notes). Then have them work with a partner to complete the partner problems. After that they will complete the independent practice to see what they understand on their own.
