11th Grade Ancient History Resources

Make learning about ancient Rome and the Romans with this no-prep digital escape game.  This game includes access to a website where your students will hunt for the keys to unlock a set of locks.  Students will need to read the clues very carefully and watch videos, visit websites, and read texts to find the information they need to win the game.  Very easy to use - just send your students to the website and let them work!  Students can play individually or in teams.

Digital escape games are a fun way to start a unit, or to review at the end of a unit.  They can also be used to learn about a cultural or historical event.  This game will have your students reading carefully and paying attention to the smallest details in order to complete the challenge and unlock the locks.

Prep is very easy - you just need to share the website URL with your students.  You may want to test the site before you use it, just to make sure nothing is blocked by your district.  As some of the clues can be challenging to unlock, you may choose to help your students with the trickier ones.  With the teacher guide, you will have the answer key - so you can help guide students towards the correct answer by giving them hints, or if you have limited time, you can adjust the game by reducing the number of locks they need to unlock - just give them the answer(s) to help the activity fit your time constraints.

A fun and exciting way to motivate students to review the content prior to an assessment. This game is specifically written for "Ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia", however; it is easy to modify in order to use in social studies, science, math, language arts, and many other content areas. Save the game sheet to word, and use it over and over again throughout the year simply by changing the questions to the content you are studying. Students will not realize that they are reviewing because it is fun for all. Encourages all students to be engaged. Modification of this activity will require typing and teacher-made study questions but can be used for years and years to come.

What did Jesus look like? Discussing the race and ethnicity of Jesus can be a difficult topic, but this PowerPoint will open up a conversation with your class and help them see that Jesus could have looked very different from the traditional image. This would be a great lesson to go along with the FREE What Did Jesus Look Like poster.

I plan to use this as a minilesson at the beginning of the year and also print out a copy of this presentation & this poster to hang up as a bulletin board. After we have discussed as a minilesson, I will also have students draw and color this Jesus Pantocrator coloring page with their beliefs about Jesus' race and appearance.

•The objective of this presentation is to understand different historical and spiritual information about Jesus’ appearance on earth. This is a QUICK presentation that will introduce different ideas and topics and hopefully encourage your students to ask questions and discuss Jesus' appearance.
