Spanish Escape Room Visit Major Sites of Spain To Catch the Soccer Thieves

Need to motivate your Spanish students?  Want to incorporate more REAL culture into your classes? Need them to work together?  This digital escape room is a FUN way to do both!  Students must watch and read the Google slides and also do some research of their own to help solve a crime. Students can complete this challenge in school or digitally from home! No-prep fun activity for ALL of your classes!

Some important objects have been stolen from the Soccer Museum at Camp Nou in Barcelona.  Help the police chase down the thieves as you travel around Spain!  To find the next clue, students must answer cultural questions about Spain.  From those answers, they must figure out codes that will open digital locks (in a google form).  Students get the next set of pictures and clues after each lock is opened! 

This Escape Room is suitable for all middle and high school students.  It focuses on famous places and interesting cultural details, not on grammar.  This resource comes in a Spanish version appropriate for students in Year 3 and up, and also an English version for Novice Spanish students or any student interested in Spanish culture!  It’s a great way to get students talking to each other at the beginning of the year, or a fun way to wrap up a school year too! Need a brain break from the normal curriculum? This should do the trick!

  • Spanish students in Year 3 and above for the Spanish version
  • Any student interested in Spanish culture for the English version (I recommend high school level- there are puzzles to figure out the require some out-of-the-box thinking!)

  • Give students a time limit to increase motivation!

The students will be learning about how the propaganda of the time influenced the people throughout Germany as Hitler came of power. They will understand that at this time Germany was facing a hardship and Hitler gave the people of Germany a group of people of where to place the blame.

How will they learn it?

The students will answer the following DBQs while the teacher displays and discusses the document on the SMART Board.

How will you know that they have learned it?

Students will apply their knowledge in their Final activity by making connections through DBQs and the Holocaust testimonies under "stories."

Each slide contains text taking students through Ávila’s past (its incredible walls, towers and cathedral) and present-day life with some views of the city!  The text is mainly written in both present and past (preterite and imperfect) and therefore is great for Years 2, 3 and 4. It comes in a Spanish and English version, and students must follow the clues to help solve a crime.  The clues take them all around Spain where they will learn about various aspects of the culture.  Each clue they solve reveals the next clue!
