This is a full unit plan for reading Lord of the Flies by William Golding through a choice of two different lenses: Psychology or Gender. You'll receive the full Unit Plan in a grid format, as well as every assignment for both lenses.

Students will be put in groups according to their chosen lens and will explore a number of resources pertaining to their lens. They'll complete a wide variety of assignments, including a Double Entry Journal, Socratic Seminar, Symbolism Word Splash and Explanation, Theme Formal Essay, and Characterization Creative Situational Writing. The directions and rubric are included for each assignment. Since it's in a Google Doc, it's all ready for you to post and have your students complete digitally, OR you can print it out and have then do it that way, too!

Writing a story about a haunted house can be a fun and interesting project for your students especially around Halloween. This product provides students with the opportunity to use creativity while writing their story about a haunted house and share it with their peers! Students can also write their story with a peer which encourages students to communicate and work with one another.

This product includes information to share with your students about what a story is, why we write a story, who is your audience when writing a story, what is your purpose when writing a story, how will the story about a haunted house be published, and rules to follow when writing a story about a haunted house.

An example of a story about a haunted house is included in this product. After the example is read, students will be provided with a template that includes an area for 3 haunted house story ideas, and once they choose which story about a haunted house they will write about, they can add onto their story using the idea chart.

Following the example, templates are provided rough draft template, 1 template that allows for students to write down three story ideas that include what happened in the story, who are the characters, and how does the story end. One the 2nd template, students can write down three brief summaries about haunted house story ideas. On the 3rd template, students can write down two brief summaries about haunted house story ideas if the template that includes 3 story ideas is too overwhelming for students. Students will then have a rough draft template that can be filled in. This includes the title of their haunted house story, the characters, the setting, and the plot. Students can then use the rough draft template to write their rough draft. Once students have edited their rough draft, they can use the final draft template that is included or they can type it. A reminder checklist is provided after the rough draft and final draft to remind students to reread their work to check for any mistakes.

Are you teaching a Spanish 2 or 3 unit about Travel and Vacations?  Exhausted from creating all of the activities your students need to be successful?  This unit called “Nuestras vacaciones” includes EVERYTHING you need to teach this unit, without a specific textbook! Being a new teacher or even teaching a new course can be so overwhelming and so time consuming.  Even districts that have textbooks don’t always provide all of the individual activities students need for practice in building both performance and proficiency.  These lesson plans are designed for about 5 weeks (5 classes a week) for any curriculum teaching about travel and vacations and the past (preterite) tense. They are written day by day, week by week, in a logical sequence.  Each activity is linked into the lesson plans, so you don’t need to go searching for what you need.  Everything is made with Google Docs or Google Slides, so you can modify if you want or need to change anything!

These lesson plans combine all of the best practices of World Language Instruction.  Grammar is embedded into comprehensible input, but specific notes and practices for grammar are also provided.  There are TONS of contextualized practices to increase proficiency, but there are also discrete practices to help students memorize vocabulary and endings to help them along faster! I try to marry performance (being able to communicate on a very specific topic) with proficiency (a person’s overall ability to communicate).
