3rd Grade Classroom Community Lesson

This is a yoga class inspired to help students with their attitudes and feelings towards challenges in their lives. We provide activity pages, coloring sheets, and discussion prompts to get your students thinking about their strengths and areas for growth. We also are providing poses to help stretch and grow their bodies further into the pose as they repeat mantras.

In this lesson plan, we include:

This interactive SEL classroom lesson provides fun and engagement for the entire class, while reminding them that everyone (including Disney characters!) uses growth mindset and gratitude in their roles - just as we should do! This activity will have students using creative thinking skills, communication, growth mindset, and so much more! My students have loved this activity and ask to do it frequently (See Leadership Lessons from Disney lesson in my store as well!) I use Disney characters as most are familiar with many of the characters and it is fun to see their faces light up when they get it correct. One of the magical moments with this lesson is seeing how easily they connect with the Disney characters when reflecting afterwards. The "Challenge Your Mindset" lesson plan is designed for 3rd to 6th-grade students to help them understand the difference between a fixed and growth mindset and develop a growth mindset. The lesson includes two sets of task cards that challenge the students' fixed mindset thinking and prompts them to shift to a growth mindset thinking. The activity is designed to be conducted in pairs or small groups, allowing for collaborative learning and discussion.

In this product, students will begin to understand what words mean to others, get students to learn to actively listen to someone telling them information or telling them to complete a task, get students to verbalize more clearly, and get students to effectively communicate. Students will work with a partner by following their partners directions, and after the activity, students will evaluate the easiest part of the activity, hardest part of the activity, and answering the question why communication is important when verbalizing or interacting with others, students will read communication starters using facial expression, intonation, and tone of voice, the importance of using facial expression, intonation, and tone of voice are discussed in depth when having a conversation with others, Examples of different tones of voice are included in this product. Students will practice saying an expression a few different ways so they can understand how tone of voice is important, when we are frustrated or annoyed about something our tone of voice changes as does our intonation and facial expression, therefore, alternative strategies students can implement in their day to day routine are provided for when they feel frustrated, and when talking to others, students will learn that by listening to their conversation partner that they will understand how they are feeling based on their facial expressions, intonation, and tone of voice.
