Earning a Paycheck is a Life Skills and Financial Literacy unit with a provided text and activities. This unit is designed for students with intellectual disabilities and autism but can be used in general education elementary grades or ELL.
This Unit will teach students about how to earn a paycheck, how to read a paycheck, how to read a job ad, how to calculate gross and net pay, and much more.
This unit has an 11-page text in 3 different levels and a pre/post comprehension test. Level 1 contains pictures over text. Over 10 activities practicing identifying items on paychecks and paystubs, reading job ads, vocabulary activities, and much more. Each activity has multiple levels of support (color-coded, cut and paste, write in).
This unit provides opportunities for repetition in the classroom, which is essential for students with intellectual disabilities, as well as the use of visuals.
