Get up and move!:

Students will move around to read cards concerning how the sun effects the seasons on Earth. Each card has a situation which describes a specific season on Earth. Students will record the correct season on the line next to the letter shown on the card. The teacher can correct the answers to have students correct or discuss as a class.

This is a great way to get students up and moving and still engaged. My students are focused and excited when they complete the list correctly.

• Word Search Puzzle: Find 30 hidden words related to the solar eclipse in a grid of letters. The words can be horizontal, vertical, diagonal, or backward.
• Crossword Puzzle: Solve 13 clues to fill in the crossword puzzle with words related to the solar eclipse.
• Word Scramble: Unscramble 11 words related to the solar eclipse and write them in the correct spaces.
• Vocabulary Passage: Read a short passage about the solar eclipse and fill in the blank spaces with the correct words from the vocabulary list. The passage introduces some important terms and concepts related to this celestial event.

You can use this product as a whole-class activity, homework assignment, small group, or independent activity.

Each activity comes with an answer key for teachers and allows students to check their work independently.

Headbands

2 French designs and 2 English designs for the K-3 classroom

Making these fun and simple headbands are always a HIT with the littles. A quick no prep activity is just what every teacher needs. Copy, cut and paste. Students can wear these all day on the day of the Solar Eclipse or on the day after. A little sweet tongue in cheek headband!

How to use this:

Set it out as a self-guided activity with materials, pencils, glue sticks, and scissors for students to use.

Create the headbands as a whole class activity and watch as students help each other measure the headbands together.

Teacher assisted for the littles, and you can easily cut and glue (or staple if that is easier).

Instructions:

•Print out pages and laminate if desired.

•Cut apart the bins, and the items for recycling.

•Ask your learner to pick up a card, name it and if possible to mention what material the item is made of.

•Then ask them, under which bin they think the item should be placed.

•Continue this until all the items have been sorted.

•If your learner can read, you can give the sheet with the sorting information and ask them to see whether the items have been sorted correctly.

•To make this activity self-checking, put a small coloured dot behind, matching the bin colour.

This project is great for the end of the year. That weird time between end of course tests and the school year end is challenging. The project is mostly self-paced and great for those days that you only see some classes throughout the day. Minimum materials are needed! 11x7 paper, lined, paper, the packet, and yarn!

Student will make a map, complete a packet, and write some journal entries on how they would survive if they were stranded on a deserted island.

This product is only the student packet. You will need the teacher slides for the chance cards. Purchase the BUNDLE to get both.

• 6.PS3.1 - Analyze the properties and compare the sources of kinetic, elastic potential, gravitational potential, electric potential, chemical, and thermal energy.
