By Teacher Ever Creative

Whether you're a preschool teacher, a homeschooling parent, or a kindergarten educator, our large and vibrant flashcards are the perfect resource to make math learning engaging and effective.

Large number flashcards are an excellent educational tool for preschool-aged children, kindergarten and special education learners, who are just beginning to learn numbers and counting. The clear text and large visual nature of the flashcards can help them grasp these concepts more easily.

Objective:
Enhance Math Skills: Watch as your child's number recognition, counting, and basic math skills flourish with these engaging flashcards.

Suitable for:

  • Preschool, Kindergarten, Homeschool Learners
  • Special education learners including autism, ADHD, dyslexia etc
  • Early Childhood Education

This flash cards set include:

  • 1 page guide on how to use these flash cards effectively
  • Numbers 1 to 20 with visual aids

How to use these flash cards?

  • Introduce One Number at a Time: Start with one number and its corresponding flashcard. For example, begin with "1." Show the flashcard to your child and say the number out loud. Encourage your child to repeat the number after you.

  • Counting Practice: Use the flashcards for counting practice. Start with number 1 and count objects up to the chosen number. For example, you can count fruits, saying, "One orange," "Two oranges," and so on.

  • Number Recognition: Once your child is comfortable with a particular number, mix up the flashcards and ask them to identify a specific number when shown. For example, "Can you find the card with the number 5?"

  • Number Order: Arrange the flashcards in order from 1 to 20. Discuss the sequence with your child and ask them to identify the missing numbers. This helps reinforce number order.

  • Math Operations: As your child becomes more advanced, use the flashcards to introduce basic math operations. For example, show the flashcards for numbers 2 and 3, and ask, "What is 2 + 3?" Use manipulatives or objects to help them count and understand addition.

  • Daily Review: Incorporate a daily or weekly review of the numbers you've covered. This helps reinforce memory and retention.

Easter Jelly Bean Activities - With Examples!

By Early Childhood Essentials

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • Jelly beans (some regular, some more wild, like Bertie Botts and Jelly Bellies)
  • coloring and writing utensils
  • printer that prints in color (preferable, but not required) *print one set per child

This could be a wonderful homeschool activity! Most of my resources are transferable from classroom to home.

WHAT'S INSIDE:

  • ACTIVITY 1: Sort and Count - primarily for one-to-one correspondence, this page uses jelly beans to practice sorting and counting. Children don't have to write the quantity, but if writing is appropriate, they can always write the number in each square after sorting. Make sure they don't clear their sorting until they finish page 2 if they skip writing! *Make sure each student has at least 3-5 colors to sort for a varied result, and use discretion how many total beans you give them.
  • ACTIVITY 2: Visualize with Bar Graph - Using page 1 results, bar graphs will be made to represent the visual quantities. The quantity for each color only goes up to 20, because it's likely students won't be given more than that per color (and in reality will likely be given MUCH less).
  • ACTIVITY 3: Writing with 5 Senses - Using 3 flavors (hopefully they haven't eaten them all yet!), they will use their 5 senses to describe it. This is an excellent practice in adjectives and nouns. Sound and taste should be last so they can enjoy it after they finish these pages. Make sure they still have some jelly beans left for the next activity.
  • ACTIVITY 4: Make a Picture - This one and the next are optional, but if you still have time to fill, or students finish earlier than others, they can create a fun picture (or a few) using their beans. Obviously it won't stay on the page, but they can use their imagination and creativity!
  • ACTIVITY 5: Draw the Flavor - If you have wild flavors (think Bertie Botts or Jelly Bellies), the final activity could be a fun way for students to describe what they taste - by drawing a picture! Did they get a grass-flavored Bertie Bott? Or a cotton candy Jelly Belly? They can draw a grass field or entire fair around that flavor!

The full page count is 14, but that includes info page, contact page, and example pages with the printable activities. You can see some of the examples in the thumbnails above, but the full product has them all.

Common Core Math Activities For Grade 3

By Collaborative Educators 3000

During third grade, the main focus of teaching time should be on four key areas: (1) building comprehension of multiplication and division, as well as tactics for multiplication and division up to 100; (2) building comprehension of fractions, specifically unit fractions (fractions with a numerator of 1); (3) building comprehension of the patterns in rectangular arrays and area; and (4) describing and examining two-dimensional shapes.

Students gain insight into the concepts of multiplication and division of whole numbers by participating in tasks that focus on equal-sized groups, arrays, and area models. In these scenarios, multiplication involves identifying a mystery product, while division involves determining a mystery factor. Students can understand the connection between multiplication and division by examining different solution methods.

Students start learning about fractions by first focusing on unit fractions. Students can utilize fractions to signify numbers that are equivalent to, smaller than, and larger than one. They address issues by analyzing fractions through visual models and strategies that identify equal numerators or denominators.

Students identify area as a characteristic of two-dimensional areas. Students connect area to multiplication by breaking rectangles down into arrays of squares, and they support using multiplication to find the area of a rectangle.

Students talk about, examine, and contrast characteristics of two-dimensional shapes. Shapes are compared and categorized based on their sides and angles, and then linked to shape definitions. Students connect their fraction work to geometry by representing the area of a portion of a shape as a unit fraction of the entire shape.
