7th Grade Writing Centers

This is such a fun creative writing activity. This activity has students work in a small group to create a fun and unique story. They will be passing around their writing outline to their group of 5. The first student will choose a character and their characteristics. Then fold the paper down so the next student cannot see what they have written. Student 2 will decide the setting and then fold the paper down again. This will continue to student 3 and 4 where they will choose the conflict and the solution. Then the original student will get their paper back and open their paper and use their outline to create their own creative story. This makes the writing a little bit challenging as they try to create a story that was chosen by their fellow classmates. This can also be a super fun and creative way to expand students writing by stretching them a little outside their comfort zone.

This resource provides a fun and structured way for students to combine their love for Pokémon with valuable writing and drawing practice.

Students will have the opportunity to review the fall vocabulary words (pictures and words are provided for each vocabulary word), students can cut out the pictures that show what they see in the fall and glue them on the board provided called, "In the fall, I see..." (When I used this product with students I increased the size to 11 x 17, so the board could hold more pictures that showed what each picture that relates with the fall). Students will be provided with 18 pictures that they can choose that relate with the fall and 18 pictures that relate with other seasons. Students are also provided with a template where they can write about what they see/do in the fall. There are two templates - 1 for a paragraph/essay and another that allows students to write 5 sentences or 10 sentences.

Review and practice those tricky comma rules by editing 10 short, unpunctuated (and uncapitalized) passages. If you've taught compound sentences, complex sentences, appositives, commas in dialogue, commas in a series, introductory element commas, direct address commas, and tag question commas, then this low-prep grammar resource is ideal for reviewing and honing those editing skills. Each passage uses several different types of commas making this activity fun but challenging. When laminated, these passages become reusable write & wipe boards and are the perfect addition for independent and small group writing centers/stations. Better yet, they can serve as a fast, informal assessment so you know exactly which comma rules to review and practice some more. Answer keys are included.
