7th Grade Student Council Activities

An interactive KINDNESS activity! This was an absolute favorite in our classroom! Our students were beaming afterwards and one even said "Wow, I never thought my classmates would say such nice things about me!" They talked about it for days afterwards and it has been an environment changer!! Included is a Google Slides presentation to present to the class with instructions included - an icebreaker to start, the activity, and reflection questions to follow. All you will need is paper and writing utensils! Enjoy!!

"Building" a safe, healthy, and happy learning environment starts with the people that we share it with! In this activity, students take on the opportunity of working effectively with others, thinking creatively, communicating respectfully, and cooperation with others all built into one activity! This is a blast for the whole class - all while focusing on so many important SEL skills. This activity includes minimal preparation yet all the benefits of so many social emotional learning skills to build (pun intended!) My students did not want this activity to end!!

This "Think Before You Speak" activity puts a focus on taking time to reflect and think before speaking to others. In this interactive activity, students are put into teams, where they are helping one another guess a specific word while also avoiding the guess of another word. Students must focus and carefully select the words in which they are using to be helpful - a social skill that we all utilize daily (even if we do not realize it!) This activity is a great resource to bring this skill to life and take time to reflect and connect - while having a little fun in doing so! "Hit Me With Your Best Meme" is an activity that is fun for the entire class! This activity provides 80 statements cards to be used to discuss different experiences that students might face throughout their day to day lives as students in a school building. They are relatable yet lighthearted and create great conversation!
