This Social Skills lesson is also perfect for Theory of mind and/ or Social problem solving.

I honestly can't tell you how many students have barged into my office super anxious and full of regret over decisions surrounding their cell phones. This resource allows you to start having open and honest conversations regarding cell phone safety. Images of cell phones with relatable messages for students to relate to. This product can be used with students as an informal/formal adapted assessment. Students will be required to identify the pre-primer, primer, 1st grade,2nd grade, and/or 3rd grade Dolch sight words. If students begin at the pre-primer level and are able to identify a specific amount of each section of sight words, they are going to be ranked as independent, instructional, or frustration when identifying those sight words. Students are then provided with a sentence or brief comprehension passage for each Dolch sight word list. The questions and short passages have been adapted and shortened compared to other reading assessments so baseline data can be collected, especially with those students are struggling. This will help gauge where students need the most support in terms of identifying sight words, reading simple sentences/passages, and answering comprehension questions that relate with what is read.

These social cues dice games focus on facial expressions, tone of voice, and intonation.

These dice games are helpful for students who have difficulty picking up on nonverbal communication or social cues, such as body language, facial expressions, tone of voice, and intonation.

Students will strengthen their social inferencing skills. They will gain practice listening to tone of voice / intonation and observing facial expressions to detect and infer what a person is REALLY feeling and thinking.

Students will also learn to effectively use nonverbal communication / social cues to change the meaning behind their own words.

We have used these for YEARS to reinforce learning. We incorporate sticky it notes to chart stories and to create new ones. Ours are printed in all colors, and students choose their favorite to create their plot diagram. Our students enjoy the larger format, too, rather than small pieces that have to be cut / glued.
