Based off the book Shh! We're Writing the Constitution by Jean Fritz. This is a great resource for students or teachers to use and includes a worksheet, word search, writing prompt, and answer keys. The worksheet can be used either for making notes while reading the book or after reading to see how much information is retained. The word search will help students to retain words and names important to the forming of the constitution. The writing prompt will encourage students to use their own imagination while still using historical information.

Students will first talk in partners or groups about a picture related to the Declaration of Independence. Students will then read 3 paragraphs about the Declaration and answers some questions. Students will then discuss a question related to the Declaration. Finally, students will reflect and write on a topic related to the Declaration of the Independence.
