Introduction to Adobe Photoshop gives students a step-by-step tutorial to learn the beginning commands of Adobe Photoshop. After following the instruction (screen shots are included), students combine their “before” and “after” pictures into a simple PowerPoint (or Google Slides) to make grading easy. Finally, students complete a short creative activity to demonstrate their understanding of their learning. Additional links to other tutorials are also included in the lesson to assist learners, as needed. Instructions are for the paid PC version of Adobe Photoshop CC (2014 or 15), but are easily modifiable for Apple/MAC computers. Real Estate Career Simulation: Flip a House Project lets middle schoolers see how real estate investors purchase, improve, and resell homes for a profit. Utilizing Microsoft Word and Excel, students “purchase” a home of choice from a list and then determine the improvements they want to make to it, all while staying within their budget. Then, they design the home, using Web 2.0 tools (www.floorplanner.com or www.homestyler.com ) or Sketchup (a free download available at: http://www.sketchup.com/download ). Finally, students use Microsoft Word to prepare a one-page sale flyer for their renovated home. Note: This lesson is intended for beginning Excel users and was created using Microsoft Excel 2016. Need a fun way to introduce Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets to upper elementary or middle school students? This great lesson lets students learn the basics of Microsoft Excel (or Google Sheets) as they create pixel art using the program. First, they'll create a quick pixel art from a given example and then they'll create their own! These are also fun lessons to use if you just need something for a one day lesson. Perfect for the beginning of the school year too.

This is the THIRD volume in the series with 8 brand new, exciting pixel art projects for your students to create, plus two new samples for the lessons. The projects vary in difficulty so that every student can be challenged and successful.

I've used this with 7th and 8th graders who used their free time to create even more art! I hope your students have as much fun as mine did learning Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets!

This lesson is great for distance learning/remote learning. You can upload it to your school's learning management system (Google Classroom, Edmodo, Canvas, etc.) or share with students via Google Drive.

Learning about Graphic Design gives students an introduction to what graphic designers do on the job. This is perfect for a technology, business or marketing class, or a class that focuses on careers. Students learn about the career from the provided PowerPoint (short teacher presentation) Next, they apply their knowledge in a logo identification game, and finally they design and create a logo of their own. The Sketchup Basics project takes students with no previous knowledge of Sketchup step-by-step through the basic commands and then challenges them to apply those skills in a project of their own. The project uses Sketchup (free CAD software download). Students work individually to create a scale model drawing of a house using Sketchup (CAD) and then create a new building of their choice using the skills they learned. The project was created for grades 7-8 but could easily be adapted for younger or older students. Note: Sketchup does not work on Chromebooks.
