Create your own Feudal Manor:

Students will learn about and create their own Feudal Manor Map. They will determine where the different groups will be located throughout their own invented manor and follow up with questions to increase rigor.

Students will use their knowledge and creativity to make this map. Each student's map will be unique and an excellent display.

Rigor is added through follow up questions. Students can follow up with deeper level thinking by answering extension questions.

The first lesson involves students retrieving facts from informational texts about the three famous figures, and writing these on to a fact sheet. In the second lesson students need to use these facts to write three to four paragraphs about the individual people. In the third lesson students need to use prompt sheets to write up an introduction and a conclusion. In the final lesson your class will need to check their draft paragraphs for mistakes before writing up their work on a neat copy using the template provided.

5. If you live where there is snow, you have probably built a snowman. The snowman has been around for quite a while. In fact, the earliest drawing of a snowman was found in a book dating back to 1380! The book, “Book of Hours” was found in a library in the country of the Netherlands. Read about a famous sculptor hired to make a snowman, a snowman which helps predicts the weather in Switzerland and two more stories about snowmen! 6. Why do We Have to Learn History? Students always ask me this question. My answer-much of what we have today was because of things developed by people that lived long ago.This reading activity shares many things we have today thanks to previous cultures. Then, in the third lesson children need to choose the most important facts and include these in an introduction; after this they need to answer several questions on a prompt sheet before writing up their conclusion. In the final lesson students need to check their draft paragraphs for mistakes before writing up their work on to a neat copy on the template provided.

Use this informative Reader's Theater Script to learn about the Black Death, a disease that killed almost 1/2 the population of Europe in its worst outbreak(1347-1351). The fun/informative play uses the format of Simon, a victim of the Black Death, being a guest on Ms. Bie Ografee's talk show and the studio audience asks questions about his experiences during the time(the medical beliefs, the causes, the effects the Black Death had on Europe, etc.

Great for a unit of study on the Middle Ages! Could be used in a science unit on bacteria and contagious diseases. Comprehension questions/extension activities, key.

A great classroom display and sorting activity that is perfect for introducing students to the some of the key events, legends and famous figures of the Middle Ages. There are 33 posters or task cards that include many of the key events including the War of the Rose, the rule of Charlemagne, the feats of Joan of Arc, the Viking raids and the fall of the Western Roman Empire.

The posters look great as a display in the classroom and the cards are a brilliant introduction to the Middle Ages. The displays and cards come both with dates and without dates, so the students can research the dates online before sorting the timeline. The cards look even better when laminated.

I continue to add to my new series, Let's Meet... people from the Ancient World includes several women who have made contributions in history. Now, I am beginning a series, Let's Meet...people in the Middle Ages.This particular reading is on Hildegard of Bingen. Hildegard was a Prophet, abbess, composer, religious leader, writer of the Middle Ages. Her play may be the FIRST known musical! Her writings are still read today.
