FREE Figurative Language Bell Ringer Warm-Ups: Similes and Metaphors
This Figurative Language Bell Ringer Warm-Up is FREE and includes TWO WEEKS of warm-ups! You will find anchor charts, daily warm-up activities for similes and metaphors, an answer key, and instructions and links for using this file in Google Slides.
DAILY Figurative Language includes two weeks of no prep printable activities, two reference pages related to metaphors and similes, and an answer key.
This free figurative language product came out of a larger figurative language product that is designed for an entire year that can also be used at any point in the year because of the layout (each figure of speech shows up once every eight weeks and then repeats until the final 14 weeks, where figures of speech are combined).
The paid figurative language product includes 190 days (38 weeks) of figurative language activities. It is a NO PREP packet that is designed to print and use immediately as a warm-up, homework, or an early finisher activity.
Like the freebie, each figurative language activity is designed to last 3-6 minutes. The product is common core aligned for 3rd-6th grade and will develop your student's figurative language skills!

Teaching Theme Big Idea Posters and Book List: Determining Theme
Teaching and finding the theme is very difficult to teach due to the inferential element. These BIG IDEA THEME POSTERS can be hung and used as a reference for your students as they explore the big ideas in THEME.

Technology Requirements:
This file can be used with iPads, chrome books, laptops, and desktops as long as your students have access to Google Drive or Classroom on a device. The digital portion of this product is on Google Slides.
I understand that students in 3rd-5th grade are not using picture books like students in lower elementary. Still, the purpose of the picture book list is to provide a frame of reference for students learning about the big ideas in theme. I genuinely tried to use popular book titles that are readily available or already familiar to students. These books can be located easily and read in a short amount of time if students need further theme exploration.

Shades of meaning can be confusing for students and this product provides criteria and practice for understanding the intensity of different adjectives.
CONTEXT CLUES:
These context clues task cards and activities were created for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade. It requires students to use context to make meaning, as well as identify the words or phrases that helped them understand the meaning of an unknown word.
