I was tired of writing things on the board over and over again. I was tired of printing out pages that students threw away. I was also tired of answering questions that students could find for themselves. So I made a book to make sure I wouldn't have to anymore.

Over the course of 2 months, I thought of everything that I would have to teach, explain, write examples of, and print, and I put all my tips and tricks into ONE BOOK. I printed this out and spiral bound all the pages for each of my students. Every time my students ask me to repeat something, I point them to the book.

I also use this in my class for reference during specific lessons as well. It's a game changer! I save time and I save my sanity.

Students will learn how to write their address, phone number, and the difference between which county, town, state, country, and continent they live in. Students will follow the example and practice writing their address on a template with support and independently. In this product, the differences and similarities between writing a realistic fiction story and a nonfiction story are shared so students can decide how they want to write their story about hearing loss or deafness. They can write a realistic fiction story if they want to write about events that did not happen, but could have, or they could write a nonfiction story about their own personal experiences. Students will then pick which genre they want to use to write their story about hearing loss or deafness. Students can follow the example provided that goes through the writing process which shows the following: picking a genre, coming up with two possible story ideas their story could be about, deciding on one of the story ideas, adding more details onto their story idea, writing a rough draft, editing, and writing a final draft if required.

I made these after realizing that my students in high school needed practice with the mechanics of how to construct a sentence before I could begin instructing them on best practices for structure in their essays. There are pages for them to practice (on paper) or you can use as a quiz for after instruction! All of the Google quizzes will self-grade and they are editable.

As our Deaf/hard of hearing/ELL students are completing written assignments, little words/parts of speech that are commonly confused when writing with words such as there, their, and they're. My students are confusing them for each other continuously. The words there, their, and they're are emphasized in this product. Students will determine if there, their, and they're belong in each sentence, circle the correct use of the word there, their, and they're in sentences, write sentences using there, their, and they're when looking at different picture scenarios, and will write there, their, or they're to complete each sentence. Students are provided space to make up their own sentences using there, their, and they're as well.

As our students are completing written assignments, using quotation marks in dialogue can be confusing. Students need to remember to use a comma before or after a quote, a capital letter when a statement is made by a character, descriptive tags, and quotation marks. Students can get easily confused when learning how to show dialogue between characters when they are having a conversation. In this product, students review why quotation marks are used in dialogue, complete sentences to show dialogue (adding in commas and quotation marks), make corrections to sentences by adding missing commas or quotation marks, make up sentences to show dialogue based on picture scenarios, make up sentences without picture scenarios that include dialogue, and students also have the opportunity to write a short story that include at least 5 communication exchanges between characters that include capitalization, commas, quotation marks, and descriptive tags.
