Ancient Egypt slide show project for Egyptian Pharaohs and Gods/Goddesses. Includes a description of project and a rubric.

How to read Egyptian Hieroglyphics:

In this activity students will practice the direction in which Egyptian Hieroglyphics are read. Students will learn that Egyptian Hieroglyphics are read in different directions based on different situations. Students will then work their way through a maze based on the information they learn.

There are two different versions of the same maze, one has just one type of hieroglyphics and the other has five types.

This is a great activity for bell ringers, early finishers, or wrapping up an Egyptian unit.

Follow up questions which allow for students to make connections and increase rigor.

Aligns with Indiana Social Studies Standard: 6.H.1.

Help your students stay organized while completing their Codex Writing Project in unit 2 of CKLA (5th grade). I have my students complete their Maya, Aztec, and Inca organizer sheets right after we finish the chapters on each civilization when it is fresh in their minds. This helps my students get their thoughts down on paper and keeps them organized as to the expectations of the project.

Time allowance to complete:

5-10 minutes - read through the text individually.

40-50 minutes - answer questions using the text as guidance (including extension activity)

Time allowance to assess:

A class set of activities might take around 15-20 minutes to mark; the teacher can then send the students their marks automatically, which allows them to read back through their work. Nearly all answers are not automatically generated, but only require a small amount of work to assign points. This is because the aim is to get students writing answers and not to just have multiple choice options.

Please ensure when you download this resource into Google Drive that you are logged in to the gmail account where you wish to store the activity. In the past teachers have downloaded resources into their school account in error. Thanks :)

What did Jesus look like? Discussing the race and ethnicity of Jesus can be a difficult topic, but this FREE poster will get kids talking about their personal image of Jesus. It shows various possible Jesus images created using Bitmoji.

This is a great accompaniment to the PowerPoint that will open up a conversation with your class and help them see that Jesus could have looked very different from the traditional image.

I also plan to use this Poster to start a conversation,then ask students to draw or color this image to reflect on how each student pictures Jesus.
