This Unit will teach students about how to earn a paycheck, how to read a paycheck, how to read a job ad, how to calculate gross and net pay, and much more.

This unit has an 11-page text in 3 different levels and a pre/post comprehension test. Level 1 contains pictures over text. Over 10 activities practicing identifying items on paychecks and paystubs, reading job ads, vocabulary activities, and much more. Each activity has multiple levels of support (color-coded, cut and paste, write in).

This unit provides opportunities for repetition in the classroom, which is essential for students with intellectual disabilities, as well as the use of visuals.

This Functional Job Skills - Filing Work Task Box Set is essential for any Special Education Classroom! The included teaching instructions walk you through the scaffolding process using the prompt cards to allow you to support students as they increase their independence and learn a new job skill.  

The Filing Task Box Set includes:

  • 5 progressive levels of skills working toward filing by last name
  • Full set of upper case and lower case dividers
  • Full set of 5 cards per alphabet letter for each progressive letter (Total of 620 filing cards)
  • Teaching strategies for each of the 5 levels
  • Student prompt card for each of the 5 levels

Progressive level details:

  • Level 1 - Matching letters filing cards. Includes upper case, lower case, and 2 different fonts.
  • Level 2 - First name filing cards with first letter highlight.
  • Level 3 - First name filing cards with no highlight.
  • Level 4 - First and last name filing cards with first letter of last name highlight for student prompt.
  • Level 5 - First and last name filing cards, no highlight, for skill mastery.
