This American Revolution unit contains over 100 pages total with adapted text and activities. This unit is designed for students with intellectual disabilities and Autism but can be used in general education elementary grades or ELL.

This unit introduces students to The American Revolution. Students will learn about the reasons Americans decided to fight the British. Through this unit students will make connections in their own life and what was happening during this time in history. Learn about George Washington and others who helped the Americans fight the war.

This unit provides opportunities for repetition in the classroom, which is essential for students with intellectual disabilities, as well as the use of visuals.

This Unit Includes four levels of the Assessment and True/False Questions

*Errorless option 1 large picture with word and 1 large response square, Level 1 with large pictures with words and large response squares 1 question per page for a total of 5 pages multiple choice out of 3, Level 2 pictures paired with words for responses 1-page multiple-choice, Level 3 words only 1-page multiple choice.

Use the assessment given as a pre-test and post-test. Do the pre-test before the first lesson. It is always fun to see what students already know and compare it to what they learned.

Activities included: Vocabulary Word Wall matching, Vocabulary definitions, Cut and paste activities and more.

**Color Coded Activities** for students who need more support!

Also included: Unit Implementation Suggestions and a Suggested Unit Plan for 10 or 5 days.

Let’s face it, close reading isn’t often a skill that comes naturally. When our students get a new reading assignment, their first instinct is often to race to the finish line rather than engage deeply with a text. Getting students to slow down, engage with the text in different ways, and reflect as they read are challenges for every teacher, and are the goals of close reading. They’re also at the heart of the Common Core English Language Arts standards. There’s no magic way to turn your class into top-notch readers overnight, but there are specific close reading skills you can teach that will help your students now and down the line. This Close Reading includes a Primary Resource excerpt from "Uncle Toms Cabin" by Harriet Beecher Stowe. It breaks down the vocab used and gives teacher lead questions, student creation of questions, as well as a summary. We all know that it’s not enough to just understand what a text says. Close readers not only grasp an author’s message, but they also take a look under the hood, so to speak.

The Spanish in America unit contains around 90 pages total with adapted text and activities. This unit is designed for students with intellectual disabilities and autism but can be used in general education elementary grades or ELL.

This unit addresses what when the Spanish came to America to look for gold. Through this unit students will make connections between traveling, searching for things, and growing plants for food.

This unit provides opportunities for repetition in the classroom, which is essential for students with intellectual disabilities, as well as the use of visuals.

There are three versions of the text (Levels 1-3). Level 3 is the longest version of the text. Level 2 is a shorter version of the Level 3 text. Level 1 is a shorter version of the Level 3 text but contains pictures in the text to assist students who learn more visually.

This Unit Includes: 3 versions of text, text comprehension questions (Level 3 version), 15+ activities, and 3 versions of an assessment test.
