Single Celled Organisms Adapted Notes and Review

This product includes vocabulary, notes, and review for students that are learning about single celled organisms.
This product covers the following: single celled organisms, single celled organisms and what they are, brief review of the 5 levels of cellular organization and where they are found in the body, healthy and unhealthy bacteria - how it is produced and where it is found, bacteria and how it breaksdown remains of dead animals and plants, single celled organisms - eubacteria, archabacteria, unicellular protists, unicellular fungi, diatoms, amoeba, paramecium, and euglena - what they are, where they are found, what they do, how they move, etc. are reviewed, how organisms get food, diffusion and osmosis - what they are and how what they do, reproduction of a single cell is called binary fission, how parent cells copy information and divide, and budding of single cells, and the process that occurs during budding. Charts are provided to show the process of a single cell reproducing - binary fission and the budding of a single cell.
Throughout the product, students will answer comprehension questions based on the pages of notes. Students will also fill in the missing blanks throughout the product that relates to notes that were reviewed on previous pages. Students will review charts that show the process of single cells reproducing and budding as well.

Vocabulary words that are emphasized in this packet include: community, ecosystems, population, estuaries, living things compared to nonliving things in a community and how nonliving things help living things in a community, small fish, kinds of ecosystems, organisms, water supply, and the Florida Everglades.

Students will learn what ecosystems are what how they are made up of both living and nonliving things, examples of nonliving things and how they help living things, examples of different ecosystems - students can determine what is in each given ecosystem by looking at the pictures provided, students will learn about the Florida Everglades, estuaries and why birds build nests near estuaries, what makes up a community in an ecosystem and why communities are important in an ecosystem, students will review different ecosystems and why specific animals would not survive in or want to live in that ecosystem, brief review of a population - its meaning and students will examine a chart that looks at the biosphere, biome, ecosystem, community, and individual. Students will learn about water concerns in the Florida Everglades, why the smallest fish in an ecosystem are most important, and students will look at a food chain chart and answer questions regarding the chart.

In this product, students will learn about the following: living things - plants and animals and where they live and what they need to live, nutrients and why they are important for plants and animals to survive, the parts of a plant - roots, stems, leaves, and cells. Students will also learn that they can classify plants by the shape of their outside edge, texture, and vein pattern. Students will learn the vein pattern in leaves - netted or parallel veins. Students will also learn about smooth leaf margin and jagged leaf margins. Students will learn about the texture of plants - waxy texture, rough texture, and smooth texture. Students will also learn about the stem structure - soft stems and woody stems. Students will then learn about the root stems - taproots and fibrous roots of plants. As students are learning about the classification of plants they will answer comprehension questions throughout the product to ensure comprehension. Students will then draw a picture of each part of the plant that they are learning about. At the end of the product, students will answer fill in the blank questions that review vocabulary was covered throughout the product.

Unit#5 Managing Resources AICE Environmental I have, who has...game/review

I have, who has... is a fun game which involves all the students. Begin the game by having one player read their "Who has" question aloud (from Start card). Each player should examine their cards carefully. The player holding the correct answer responds by stating their "I have" answer, then presents their own "Who has" question. Keep the game going until the sequence ends with Stop card.
This Review game covers concepts studied in Unit#5 Managing resources, all three sections.
The document has 36 cards, perfect for large classes. If you have less than 36 students in one class (I hope you do!), you can have some students have two cards. My students love this game, and I always have volunteers to take more than one card.
