Firstly, there are six reading comprehension activities, or informational texts, about:

• Elizabeth II

These activities require NO PREP and have a body of text that students need to read through thoroughly; then they can use the text to find the comprehension and grammar answers. All texts then have an extension activity for those fast finishers. Answers, for teacher use, are on the final page of each document.

Then, there are four biography writing units about Elizabeth II, William the Conqueror, George III and Henry VIII. The units have been split into four separate lessons which will take students approximately 40-50 minutes each.

The Spanish in America unit contains around 90 pages total with adapted text and activities. This unit is designed for students with intellectual disabilities and autism but can be used in general education elementary grades or ELL.

This unit addresses what when the Spanish came to America to look for gold. Through this unit students will make connections between traveling, searching for things, and growing plants for food.

This unit provides opportunities for repetition in the classroom, which is essential for students with intellectual disabilities, as well as the use of visuals.

There are three versions of the text (Levels 1-3). Level 3 is the longest version of the text. Level 2 is a shorter version of the Level 3 text. Level 1 is a shorter version of the Level 3 text but contains pictures in the text to assist students who learn more visually.

This Unit Includes: 3 versions of text, text comprehension questions (Level 3 version), 15+ activities, and 3 versions of an assessment test.

Activities included: Vocabulary Word Wall matching, Vocabulary definitions, Cut and paste activities, Timeline, Maps, Word search, and more.

These units are focused on close reading in history/social studies, primarily in the discipline of history, and using text-dependent questions to help students gain a deeper understanding of informational texts. Unit 3 will offer suggestions for how to implement FL CCSS in the other related disciplines of civics, economics, and geography. Why Close Reading Now? I wear a variety of professional hats—Department Head, Social Studies Coach, Youth In Government Advisor, Interactive Notebook Team member for the District, Chromebook Leader, tech Leader, School Based Leadership Team, AVID Tutor, and most of all Teacher. To keep myself honest (and humble), I spend a lot of time in classrooms watching kids and teachers at work. During the past few years, I've observed a transformation in the teaching of reading from an approach that measured readers' successful understanding of text through lengthy packets of comprehension questions to one that requires students to think about their thinking, activating their "good reader" strategies. The National Assessment of Educational Progress even made one of those strategies—making reader/text connections—a thinking strand within its framework (National Assessment Governing Board, 2002). The play script has been rewritten to be suitable for young performers. A Midsummer Night’s Dream tells the story of four Athenian lovers who have a complicated yet dramatic love life. Lysander and Hermia loved each other and wished to be together. Helena loved Demetrius, but Demetrius loved Hermia, and Hermia’s father wanted him to marry his daughter.

Hermia and Lysander decided to run off together into the woods. But the woods were haunted by the Fairy King and Queen - Oberon and Titania, and the King’s mischievous henchman, Puck. The play tells the magical story of the eventual coming together of the four lovers, and Duke Theseus and his bride, Hippolyta.

The play script is a mix of modern English with some of the famous lines from the real play mixed in as well. There are 26 speaking parts. I hope you enjoy it – good luck! There are 26 speaking roles with parts for the whole class; the language is a mix of Shakespearean and more modern English. Ideal for theatre performances or plays, reading activities or guided reading sessions.
