This engaging lesson introduces students to World International Organizations and can be used in geography, civics, and government. It incorporates both Non-governmental (NGOs) and Intergovernmental (IGOs) — such as UNESCO, United Nations, World Health Organization**, Mercy Ships**, and more — explaining how they play a significant role in shaping global connections. These international organizations, such as the Doctors Without Borders, World Trade Organization, and World Bank, work to maintain peace, promote human rights, ensure economic stability, and address pressing issues like climate change, economic development, and poverty on a global scale. By learning about these organizations, students gain a deeper understanding of the interconnectedness of our world and the importance of collaboration among nations. As an enrichment activity, students will be asked to work together to create an international organization to solve a world issue.

I designed this 5-page activity for my students to engage with during the Fall or at the start of the year, focusing on the Social Studies Citizenship unit. Students will read various scenarios and determine whether each one exemplifies good citizenship. This activity is perfect for reinforcing rules and character traits at the beginning of the year. I intend to use it as an independent task after a few days of instruction on citizenship. It can also serve as a graded assessment, quiz, or a follow-up activity after a mini-lesson on rules or citizenship. Constitution Day is September 17th each year, except if the date falls on a Sunday. This play would be a great addition to your lessons about the U.S. Constitution and/or for Constitution Day!

Part of my Ms. Bie Ografee series of plays, this Reader's Theater Script is on the "Father of the Constitution", James Madison(1751-1836), and his sharing with students the history of the writing of the Constitution. Madison who would become the 4th President of the United States(1809-1817)), played a very important role in the forming of our US Constitution. In addition to being a delegate, he introduced the first additions to the Constitution(amendments) which came to be known as the Bill of Rights. With 13 audience questioners, a Did You Know Section, comprehension questions, a Teacher Page with extension activities, key and additional links, students will learn about the writing of our important government document, the Constitution.

This lesson involves having students examine the impacts of the Industrial Era in the United States with a specific focus on child labor. It is recommended that students will have explored, to some degree, the Industrial era prior to this lesson. This resource will prompt students to analyze social activist Lewis Hines' photographs that depict the various jobs and working conditions that children experienced. The Slide Presentation is interactive, problem posing, and vicariously draws the students into the lives of the children of the Industrial era.
