⭐GEOMETRY: questions involve finding missing angle measurements, finding the volume of a cylinder, and answering questions about transformations.

⭐PROBABILITY & STATISTICS: students must read and understand scatter plots and double frequency tables. They must find the equation of a line of best fit, or a trend line.

⭐VOCABULARY : questions ask about transformation, angle pairs, types of decimals, rational and irrational numbers, and formulas for finding volume.

Scratch is a really easy to learn language to learn which makes it perfect for beginners. Block based coding looks very simple at first, but it is just as intricate as a keyed language. The difference is that coders don't need to memorize complex syntax to use it. This makes it perfect for younger kids; but it's still complex enough for older students.

This is part 6 of a semester long programming in Scratch course.

This resource is designed to expose students to the life skill of calculating tips when going out to eat or receive a service that requires a tip (Ex. barber, nail salon). Students will read sales receipts, calculate the subtotal of a meal or service, calculate the tip and find the total. In some cases students will be asked to calculate a split bill. On some worksheets, students will be asked to read an example scenario and determine if the guests tipped to much, too little or the correct and determine the correct tip and subtotal

If students are not ready for coins, encourage them to use the dollar up strategy.

Calculating Discounts - Google Forms/ Slides

Learn and practice integrating with u-substitution with this complete lesson. In this print and go lesson, you can print all 7 pages out and give it out as a packet to start the topic. Have them start off completing the word search with vocabulary associated with the u-substitution. Go through the guided notes with the u-substitution examples with them (or they can do it alone with the guidance of the notes). Then have them work with a partner to complete the partner problems. After that they will complete the independent practice to see what they understand on their own. You can assign them the HW for the night. The next day they can summarize what they learned, reflect on what was challenging and what was not and then rate themselves on a scale of 1-4 to self assess how well they understood u-substitution.

- Evaluating Integrals using U-Substitution

WHAT YOU GET:

>> DO NOW: Students will complete a short word search to familiarize themselves with the vocabulary associated with u-substitution. They will fill in a chart reflecting on words they have heard of and have not.

UNDERSTANDING & READING GRAPHS & CHARTS IN GEOGRAPHY

INTRODUCTION ACTIVITY

This lesson is an introductory lesson to (1) prepare students and a climate students with the different types of graphs and charts, (2) to understand the difference between a graph and a chart, (3) begin learning to decipher the data each represents and (4) how each represents the data.

OBJECTIVE:
o The learner will understand the difference between a graph and a chart and will be able to identify each.
o The learner will recognize 14 graphs and/or charts.
o The learner will interpret 14 graphs and/or charts.

MATERIALS:

o Reading Activity: (2 pages) Is it a Graph or Chart? (Included)
o 14 Graph & Map Stations (Included)
o List of graphs & charts (Included)
o Laminate- Laminate all 14 stations and list of graphs and charts for future use and

durability. o Blue painters tape to display stations on the wall throughout the

classroom
o Rulers for each station for students to use in reading the graphs.
o Student answer sheet, one per student or one per team to save paper and ink.

o Timer to measure time at each station.

PREPARATION:

Laminate each station and the list of chart and graph names for each station. The list of chart and graph names will be used as a reference for students. Prepare each station with a ruler and any other supplies that may be needed.

INTRODUCTION:
Either show an introduction video (there are some suggestions below) or have students participate in the introduction activity.

PROCEDURE:
Reading Activity: Organize the class into teams of 2-4, at the teacher’s discretion. Have student groups read and discuss the student reading activity (2 pages included).

Carousel Activity: Student groups will rotate from one station to the next answering four (4) questions at each station and identifying each graph and/or chart. Based on the information provided in the reading on how to determine a graph and/or chart, students will identify each station as a graph or chart, how the data is being displayed, the name of the graph or chart, and provide an interpretation of each. Provide groups 3 minutes at each station; use a timer. You may cut down on the number of stations if- your class time is more limited. Students will work together to complete the questions for each station on their Student Answer Sheet. When the timer goes off, all groups will move on to the next station. Once the carousel activity is complete, display each chart and answer and discuss them together allowing students to correct their answers.

CLOSURE / EVALUATION:
Have students complete and submit an Exit Card

ENRICHMENT REVIEW ACTIVITY:
Have students choose a topic and create their own chart or graph as a home assignment for extra credit. They can present and display them in the classroom the next day.

Need an awesome Art Unit? I have just the thing for you! This creative Mandala Design artwork was designed to be printed and displayed as examples while you teach. Use this Google Slide file to display these beautiful images one-by-one on a large screen. For this assignment, I did a demo and taught the class how to use a ruler and a yardstick. Measurements and Math was a strong focus of the lesson. Next, students spent the rest of the first lesson brainstorming an idea for a stencil (¼ of their full Mandala Design. I taught the students how to rotate their stencil to get a Radial Design. Students started on their Final Copy paper and outlined their drawing in sharpie marker. We used large windows to trace our stencils on the final. Students used colored pencils, colored sharpies, or watercolor paint to color their Mandala Design. I hope you and your kiddos love this! The Mathematics Proficiencies were embedded into the curriculum to connect the Nouns (content) and Verbs (mathematical skills) together.
