HOLIDAY FUN!!! Are you looking for an engaging, hands-on chemistry experiment to reinforce scientific process skills and proper lab safety practices? Look no further than the Holiday Candy Cane Dissolving Lab! This AWESOME STEM Activity includes all you need to hook your students on science- simply add candy canes!

I do this lab in winter, as the weather changes and students begin to look forward to winter break. Your students will feel like real scientists as they complete a simple dissolution lab while snacking on candy canes. I do this lab in late fall as the trees begin to drop their beautiful colored leaves. The kiddos feel like real chemists as they make supersaturated solutions that leave behind beautiful crystalline creations. In this lab, we build lab skills, problem solve, cooperate in groups and enjoy the hard work.
