Kirigami is a highly engaging, hands-on Day of the Dead project for upper elementary students and is perfect for dual language classes. This cross-curricular project can be used for Hispanic Heritage Month, Day of the Dead, or anytime and works well for Art on a cart. I love doing this project in October leading up to Halloween because this artwork produces a great seasonal multicultural display that is tied to Día de los Muertos (and not Halloween). Hispanic Heritage Month ends a few weeks before Day of the Dead and this project integrates them perfectly!
