Women’s History month is celebrated each March. It was President Jimmy Carter who was the first president to establish the week of March 8 as National Women’s History Week back in 1980. In 1986, this was made into Women History Month. There are many women who have made contributions which have shaped our world. The following information may be helpful for Women’s History Month.In

This research activity comes with a teacher guide, a National Geographic website guide, a graphic organizer, and a self-reflection survey. Over the years, I have developed a number of webquests for Instructor Magazine. All my webquests contain lots of informational facts within the webquest so the students learn something as they are reading the questions. The webquests have extension activities and most of my webquests also have comprehension questions,too. Did you know that President Jimmy Carter was the first to install solar energy panels on the White House or that President Ronald Reagan had them removed? Did you know that President Benjamin Harrison and his family didn’t like to shut off the “new” electric lights(installed in 1891), afraid to touch the switches or that a specially large bathtub was installed in the White House?Learn more about the White House with this fun and informative webquest.

Lewis and Clark:Go on the Expedition( A Webquest/Extension Activities)

On February 28, 1803, President Thomas Jefferson got approval by the Congress for an expedition to explore the lands of the Louisiana Purchase. Meriwether Lewis and William Clark and about 31 other men began the journey. Originally given $2500, the final cost of this trip came to around $38,000. Learn about the Lewis and Clark expedition with this fun and informative webquest. I have also included several extension activites/resources.

Less than 10 people showed up for the Wright Brothers attempt to make history on that December 17, 1903, morning. This informative web quest will help students learn about the Wright Brothers and their first flight. Extension activities as well as additional links for information are also provided as is the key. Several common core standards are addressed as well.

Women’s History month is celebrated each March. It was President Jimmy Carter who was the first president to establish the week of March 8 as National Women’s History Week back in 1980. In 1986, this was made into Women History Month. In 2024, the theme for Women’s History Month is "Women Who Advocate for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.” The theme is to highlight women who have tried to eliminate bias and discrimination in our lives. There are many women who have made contributions which have shaped our world.
