Telling time Identify the hour and minute hands Boom cards with audio Set 2
By TamiaDesigns
Do your students have difficulty telling the time on an analog clock because they confuse the hands? If they don't know which hand is which, they will not be able to tell the time. In real life this is often harder than it is when students are looking at the typical, very simple, clock drawings in a textbook.
This self-grading activity starts by explaining, using photos of REAL clocks, how they can tell which hand is which. Students read the explanation or click on the audio button to have the text read to them by a real (not computer-generated) voice. Then students are presented with a series of photos and have to identify which is the hour, minute, or second hand. There are 30 different clocks included. If you assign the activity using the free FastPin, all 30 cards will be presented to the students. If you have a BoomCards membership, when you assign the deck, a random selection of 15 out of 30 cards will be presented, allowing you to assign the activity more than once and have students see different questions each time.
This is Set 2 of two activities. The first set spends longer explaining how to identify which hand is which and offers a few multiple choice questions at the end. This second activity can be used as a followup to the first activity, or as a standalone activity. In both these activities, they do NOT have to actually identify the time - I have other activities in my store for that.

All the totals in this activity are between $10 and $100.
I have another activity in my store where students have to count out amounts between $1 and $10. These are two in a series of activities in my store working with Australian money.

Counting money - count Australian coins An online Google Slides activity
By TamiaDesigns
An online activity, good for any students who need practice working on recognizing the value of and counting Australian coins. The totals to count range from $0.25 to $5.05. Students count the coins on each slide and type the total. There are two Slides files, with a total of 40 sets of coins to total.
This Google Slides version does not, unfortunately, allow students to drag and drop the money as they count it. If this is an important feature for your students, please check out the Boom Cards activities like this one in my store which not only have draggable coins and far more questions in one file, but also give students immediate feedback as to whether they have the correct answer or not.

Telling time Identifying the hour hand Boom cards digital activity 2
By TamiaDesigns

If they don't know which hand is which, of course they will not be able to tell the time – and in real life this is often harder than it is when students are looking at the typical, very simple, clock drawings in a textbook. This interactive, self-checking, Boom Cards activity has students simply identify the HOUR hand on each clock they see, and determine which numbers it is between.
This is Set 2 of two activities. The first set starts with an introduction on how to identify the hour hand and includes audio of the directions that students can choose to listen to as they read. All of the clocks in set 2 have Roman numerals, or markers such as dots or lines, for the numbers. If your students are not ready for this, Set 1 only uses regular (Arabic) numerals. In both these activities, they do NOT have to actually identify the time - that's the next step (and I have other activities in my store for that!)

Making change with Australian dollars Counting to 10 cents Boom cards
By TamiaDesigns
Two no-prep self-correcting digital activities hosted at BoomLearning, good for any students who need practice working on the practical skills of adding up the value of notes and coins, and subtracting numbers to calculate the amount of change due. Great for in-class center activities, or extra review. Students see a receipt with an amount due, and colourful images of Australian notes and coins to show what they have paid. They have to calculate how much change they should expect, and drag the appropriate coins to the answer box. There are two files provided with a total of 50 amounts for students to figure out. Students can move the images around on the board as they count the coins and notes. The amount of change needed varies from 10 cents to 90 cents in the first file, and from $1.10 to $10.30 in the second file.
Play on interactive whiteboards, computers, and tablets. No printing! No cutting! No laminating! No losing coins!
