Band and Orchestra Instrument Samples

When it comes time to discuss timbre, instrument families, ranges, and the alike, you need instant samples of instruments. I used to do it the old way -- finding a specific piece of music, cueing it up in the CD player or mp3, and implement it in my lesson. It took a lot of time and extra preparation on my part to find those clips and segment them for my class... Here's the solution -- Band and Orchestra Instrument Samples. Included are 25 REAL sampled instruments, all the way from the Piccolo down to the Marimba. Each sample is a little different and includes: - 10-20 seconds of each instrument sample - stylistic features (articulations included) - a good representation of range of the instrument - authentic sounds - various tempi In addition to individual instruments, you receive a woodwind, brass, and string section example, along with a string section pizzicato section as well Consider this your one stop shop for instrument examples! Writing a biography is a fun and interesting project for your students. This provides them with the opportunity to learn about someone that interests them and share it with their peers! This packet includes information to share with your students about what a biography is, why do we write a biography, and rules to follow when writing a biography. This packet also includes an example showing the process that is used to write a biography and the steps that are taken to add onto a biography to be sure it includes a beginning, middle and end. On the last few pages, it includes a template to help students come up with possible story ideas, add onto each paragraph they will include in their biography, and a reference sheet. Space to write a rough draft as well as a final draft is included.

This product was made for students to learn the following: that different people come to America, the first Americans - Indigenous Peoples, review of directions when going from one place to another in the world, what the first Americans ate, where they lived, what was used to build houses, how they found food, how they made tools and clothes, the first explorers, who the Vikings were, where the Vikings traveled, what colonies, a colony, and colonists are, how colonists and Indigenous Peoples lived on the same land, slaves, brief discussion of the Civil War, and immigrants coming to America to start a new life.
Adapted notes are provided along with an independent review after each slide. Students will be required to fill in the blanks using a key, answer short answer questions without a key, complete multiple choice questions, and look at a graph and answer short answer questions.
Students can complete the review independently, with support, or it can be used as an assessment as well.

In this product, students will learn about Industrial Revolution. Students will learn when the Industrial Revolution began and ended, what kinds of goods were manufactured, how large factories and technology produced goods in large quantities, how electricity, the production line, and the Bessemer steel press were utilized during the Industrial Revolution, the first textile mill and how it started the Industrial Revolution in 1793, who Samuel Slater was and how he made a profound impact during the Industrial Revolution, the major technology changes that happened during the Industrial Revolution such as coal, the steam engine, steel, iron, and petroleum, the move from people working at home and in small shops to large factories and why, steam power and how it became bigger and more powerful during this time, transportation that includes - steamboats, trains, and the Transcontinental Railroad and how they were useful during the Industrial Revolution, electricity - who invented it, and why it was important during the Industrial Revolution, the what the telegraph was, when the telephone was invented and by who, how it was beneficial and used during the Industrial Revolution, textile technology and how it grew during the Industrial Revolution - The Spinning Jenny and the Spinning Mule - what they were, how they differed from each other, and how they may production easier than spinning wool or cotton by hand, what the cotton gin was - who invented it, the sewing machine - who invented it, and what it was used for, cultural changes during the Industrial Revolution and what they were, working conditions and how they were dangerous for those that worked in factories, child labor - the age of children working, how children were treated, how much children earned, and how many hours children would work each day, why businesses relied on child labor, who breaker boys, newsies, and matchstick girls were, what they did, the dangers of their jobs, the changes that were made, and how they overcome those changes, the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 - what it was, how it changed labor laws for children, and facts about the Act.

In this product, students will learn about the 13 colonies and review the New England, Middle, and Southern colonies, what was the American Revolution and when it was fought, the groups that were involved in the American Revolution, the commander of the Continental Army - George Washington and why he was chosen, the difference between Loyalists and Patriots, why the British Soldiers thought the American Revolution would be easy, the challenges the Continental Army and Commander Washington faced during the American Revolution and how they overcame these challenges, the lack of training the Continental Army had and who helped train the soldiers, the trust and respect that the Continental Army had for Commander Washington and why, the Battle of Trenton, New Jersey - when it happened, who it was between, who won, and how they won, why France decided to help the Continental Army during the American Revolution, a brief overview of the First and Second Continental Congress and what they did during the American Revolution, how France, Germany, and Poland helped the Continental Army, Winter at Valley Forge - What happened, the struggles the Continental Army faced, training the Continental Army - Baron Friedrich von Steuben and what he trained the Continental Army to do, when the port city of Charleston, South Carolina was captured and who captured it, students will look at a map that shows battles along the eastern coast and they will answer questions utilizing the map, Francis Marion - The Swamp Fox and what he did to help the Continental Amy during the American Revolution and where his nickname came from, what the Declaration of Independence is, who drafted the Declaration of Independence and why, Battle of Newport, where it took place, who was involved, what the African Americans were promised for helping the Continental Army, who was promised freedom, The Battle of Yorktown - when it happened, how long the battle was, and who surrendered, Treaty of Paris - 1783 - what it was and what this treaty meant for the Continental Army, women during the American Revolution, and Elizabeth Hager and what she did to help during the American Revolution are reviewed in this product.
The notes are adapted to meet your student's individual learning needs. After reviewing and discussing the notes, they will answer comprehension questions to review what was discussed on previous pages, students will read maps and answer questions based on the map provided. At the end of the product, students are provided with a review that includes multiple choice questions, short answer questions, and will choose 1 of the 10 major battles during the American Revolution that are provided and will research one battle and will be required to write down 5 facts about that battle.

Students will also learn the following: Who the President was during the Civil War, the main cause of the Civil War, abolitionists - Frederick Douglas, John Brown, Harriet Tubman, and Harriet Beecher Stowe - when they were born and where, where they died and where, what they did during the Civil War, and how they made a difference for the enslaved or tried to help them, The Underground Railroad - what it was and how it was used, The Fugitive Slave Act of 1850 - what it was and what the federal government was responsible for finding, why the South relied on slavery as much as they did and what their concerns were if it was to stop, The Confederate States, the first state to secede, and the Union, what unified means, when the Civil War began, how long the Civil War was, some major battles that took place that include - The Battle of Shiloh, The Battle of Bull Run, The Battle of Antietam, The Battle of Fredericksburg, The Battle of Gettysburg, and The Siege of Vicksburg are reviewed, what happened at each of these battles, who won, and facts about each battle are presented in this product, what happened when the Civil War ended, the kinds of weapons that were used during the Civil War on both sides - muskets, bayonets, and cannons, Why Abraham Lincoln didn't want African Americans to participate in the Civil War, who mane up the 54th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment, how brave African Americans were during the Civil War, what women did around the home and the community during the Civil War - how they took care of the home, raised money for war supplies, where they worked - factory and government jobs, acted as nurses to take care of sick and wounded soldiers, became spies on both sides (North and South), and how women would would dress up as men so they could fight in the Civil War, children and what their role was during the Civil War is also reviewed - how old children were when they had to help fight during the Civil War, younger children had to help during the Civil War as drummers and messengers, and how children felt when their family members were gone for long periods of time or never returned home.

At the end of the product, students are provided with a review that includes multiple choice questions and short answer questions.
