Leadership Lesson - "Chaos Coordinator" - An Interactive SEL Lesson
By Jeni Donath
Are your students struggling to be respectful during a classroom lesson - talking, blurting, and other things going on instead of listening respectfully? This lesson puts the students right in those shoes and gives them a glimpse into what that can be like. Not only is it engaging (and kind of silly) but impactful and real. Everything needed for your next leadership lesson is included in the download!

Each question of the day is presented on its own slide with an image and a weekly positive affirmation. Throughout the week, students will be asked questions that relate to self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making. Each Monday, the affirmation statement includes a Youtube link to a related short video, song, or picture book. Click to purchase all 3 products as a BUNDLE PACK.
The 1st - 5th grade teachers at my elementary school use these slides every day as part of their morning meeting. Sometimes the kids share out to the whole class, while other times the kids meet in small groups or respond in writing. We often use these questions to remind students about their PBIS skills, AVID skills, or soft skills that we are constantly reinforcing.

SEL Feelings Flip Book - Classroom Guides for Students + Staff
By Jeni Donath
This social-emotional learning flip book is a classroom must have! This easy to follow and easy to access resource is designed to not only promote discussions around all things feelings and emotions, but also provides resources and strategies for students and teachers to reference. This digital download contains both a flip book for students (a simplified guide just for students) as well as a corresponding teacher's guide that goes hand in hand with what the students are seeing, too! This resource provides teacher's guidance on how to ask specific questions depending on the emotions of a student, as well as provides potential helpful strategies for the student to work through the feelings.
The thing I love most about this resource is the connection that it can create within your classroom. Teachers are not always able to take away whatever may be causing challenges for their students, but they are always able to offer help and support. This resource is designed to help teachers navigate those conversations and offer that extra support where it may be needed, while also giving students ideas on how to work through how they might be feeling. When students are having big feelings - they aren't ready to learn. It is important to take the time to work through those feelings to create a more productive and supportive learning environment for all - without dismissing any feelings, but still moving forward with our learning!
