Like many of you, the country of Ukraine and its people have been on my mind and heart daily. Saddened by what is taking place and feeling helpless I wished there was more I could do to help. Undoubtedly, you are also thinking about your students during time and looking for ways to address this current event with them in an age appropriate way.

This scavenger hunt is a fun way for students to learn fun and interesting facts about Ukraine while bringing attention to the country & culture. Students can work together to complete the scavenger hunt bringing unity to the classroom. Activity pages at the end give students the opportunity to reflect and even express their emotions.

This resource does not directly address the current climate or war in Ukraine. This resource was designed to teach about the beauty of Ukraine and its rich culture. I have found many students have been flooded with information and images of the war from different media source. This gives students insight to what Ukraine was like before the war.

With this interactive scavenger hunt students will learn fun and interesting facts about Ukraine. For example: Did you know Ukraine used to be apart of another country? Or that Ukraine is about the same size as Texas? The scavenger hunt includes 20 fact cards and asks students to read the cards closely for information to fill in the answer

This scavenger hunt will still work broken into shorter segments for multiple lessons or a shorter activity.

This scavenger hunt also works well as a scoot game!

The Pumpkin Patch Field Trip Unit is part of my Field Trip Unit Series. The series was created with homeschoolers in mind, but can be adapted to be used in a classroom as well. Field trips are a great way to supplement learning, but often homeschoolers don’t get any background information on the location of their field trip and want to enrich their experience by expanding the learning at home before and after the trip. These units help give information and fun activities before and after the field trip.

These units are available in PreK/Kinder, Elementary, and Middle & High School levels. All Pumpkin Patch Field Trip Units follow the same outline and the parent/teacher info sheet is the same for all three so that if you have children of several ages, you can seamlessly teach them together. Grab a bowl, hat, or box, and take these sentences, cut them (and laminate them if you want), toss em around, and let your students read and discuss what could be fictional and nonfictional. As this was meant to be an introductory lesson, maybe they won't know those words yet, so you can accept "realistic" and "not realistic," or whatever language works for your classroom! Compare and Contrast Graphic Organizers, Passages, Worksheets, and Anchor Charts:

Students will compare and contrast nonfiction reading passages in a variety of ways. These no-prep worksheets and anchor charts requires students to compare known items, and nonfiction animal passages. There are also printable pages that ask students to research two objects and compare and contrast them.

Students will compare and contrast using Venn diagrams, lists, and complete sentences to assess their comprehension of comparing and contrasting. The variety of options makes this a go-to compare-and-contrast resource for your classroom.
