They can also be used for test prep, homework, small group instruction, and independent reading practice. Use the 24 Google slides to model skills for the whole class. Bookmarks are designed with 4 bookmarks to a page, which saves on copying and paper waste, and much of the text is in the Open Dyslexic font to support struggling readers. Bookmarks and posters can be printed in either color or grayscale/B&W.
My own students are absolutely in love with these bookmarks. They found it fun to complete the different bookmarks and couldn’t wait to get their hands on the Visualize bookmark. They literally begged me to do them again. As a teacher, I loved that I could be strategic with who received which bookmark. My students who were still learning English focused on acquiring new words, while my strong readers searched for figurative language. We’ve used them with novels during silent reading time, a short story from our ELA curriculum, and online news articles. I don’t think they realize just how much critical thinking and close reading they are doing. To them, they’re just having fun!

My 5th graders LOVED this resource. When I first introduced the sentence building activity to the kids, each student was given a noun, verb, and adjective. They went to their seats to build a sentence, then met their peers at the center of the room to read their sentence and exchange one of their word tiles, returning to their seat to build a new sentence. The kids said they enjoyed being creative and that it felt like they were playing with trading cards.
