This is a 96-page set of test materials to go along with the WonderWorks Interactive Worktext (McGraw-Hill) for grade two.

Note that these worksheets go along with the 1st edition published in 2013 with ISBN 0021297940. Please verify that you have the same edition before purchasing this product.

Part of the goal in creating these test materials is to help students prepare for standardized tests. When students take standardized tests, they often struggle with text-dependent questions because they have not had much practice with these types of questions. The text-dependent questions included in this set of test materials are quite challenging and require careful consideration within the context of each story.

For each week in the Interactive Worktext, there are two weekly tests:

This book discusses problem solving skills, working together as a team, listening to others ideas, being responsible, starting a babysitting business, and being a good friend/sibling. The comprehension questions in this product relate with the text as well as students own experiences. Vocabulary words, their meanings, and example sentences are presented in the packet. Students can also write sentences using the vocabulary words. As the book is being read aloud, as students are reading the book or after the book has been read, students can answer the comprehension questions in this packet. Use these 24 standards-based Interactive Reading Comprehension Skills & Strategies Bookmarks, correlating posters, and Google Slides to differentiate for student reading needs and practice close reading for reading comprehension. They can also be used for test prep, homework, small group instruction, and independent reading practice. Use the 24 Google slides to model skills for the whole class. My students who were still learning English focused on acquiring new words, while my strong readers searched for figurative language. We’ve used them with novels during silent reading time, a short story from our ELA curriculum, and online news articles. I don’t think they realize just how much critical thinking and close reading they are doing. To them, they’re just having fun!

This resource will provide your second grade, third grade, and fourth grade students with 30 nonfiction reading passages about holidays in the month of July. Use these no-prep reading comprehension passages to have your students reading about various engaging topics.

It seems like every day is National (insert cool thing here) Day. I decided to look into these holidays to bring some fun and excitement back to informational passages. The best part about these units though... they are EASILY enrichable! For example, watch Donald Duck cartoons on Donald Duck Day, celebrate fathers on Father's Day, or get students to bring their bikes to school for Bicycle Day!

My class has had such a fun time reading these passages and celebrating something each day.

In this unit, you will be given 33 informational passages with text dependent questions requiring short answer responses.

Please consider that not every day has a holiday that is school appropriate. Not every holiday remains on the same day each year.

All passages are informational based, usually with a history on the day and whatever is being celebrated. Passages have 4-6 questions with a few skills being met:

• asking and answering questions
• main idea
• key details
• making connections
• context clues
• author's POV vs reader's POV

Similar format throughout the unit so students get familiar with text structure and routine quickly. This document has the passage on top with the questions below.
