My Pre-Writing Program - Fine Motor Activities - Homework, Kindegarten, Preschoo

By All Therapy Resources

Pre-writing skills are skills that children need to achieve before they can learn to write letters. Firstly, children must understand how to draw the basic shapes (i.e. circle, diagonal, straight line etc) as these help form the basis of letters. This program explores this further and provides specific examples to support teachers, parents and other adults to implement this program for their child or student.

This program outlines two weeks worth of homework ideas for students/children to work on to develop their pre-writing skills as well as making learning fun!

These worksheets may align with the UFLI Scope and Sequence Getting Ready Lessons and may also be used for other systematic synthetic phonics programs that focus on correct letter formation. NOTE: This product is not endorsed by UFLI Foundations nor is it affiliated in any way. No part of this product copies any material found in the manual or the toolbox.

STOP!! Do you want these one page I Spy Letter Tracing Sheets for FREE? Join my email list and I’ll send you free practice sheets! NOTE the free version is for lowercase letters and will not contain the alternate fonts for q, t and y or the uppercase tracing. Click here to join my mailing list and receive these sheets for free.

Contents:

  • 26 pages of worksheets
  • One page each for lowercase letters: A-Z containing one letter to trace and pictures to match.
  • Letters y, z, q contain one central picture and many letters to trace.

You will need:

-Pencil for tracing letters

-Colored markers or pencils for coloring.

Instructions

Using these worksheets, students will have opportunities to:

1. trace the letter.

2. identify the sound that the letter represents.

3. use phonemic awareness to find pictures with the same sound

4. color the pictures with the same sound to demonstrate understanding of the sound.

5. continue tracing the letter for handwriting practice.

Other ideas: Instead of tracing letters you could ask the student to write the words that start with that letter sound.

What other teacher’s are saying about my other products:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Lucky Squares: My students beg me to play this whenever they have a bit of free time!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Honeycomb Race: These are awesome! Such an easy extension from UFLI lessons to use for centers, homework, small groups. I love these!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ My students love playing the Dots and Boxes game! It provides great practice and reinforcement of the skill we're working on in UFLI. I have extra copies that I keep for fast finishers, so they can play with a classmate.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Capture the Flag: This is a great resource! I love UFLI and having an additional game to practice the sound we are working on is very engaging for my students.

Alphabet Tracing Printables: Printing Practice Uppercase Letters, Kindergarten

By Jessica Renee Montessori - JRMontessori

Do your kindergarten and first-grade students write their letters from the bottom up? Help your students (left-handed kids included!) learn correct letter formation with these uppercase letter tracing cards. These cards isolate the skill of letter formation so children develop the muscle memory needed to write the alphabet correctly.

It's impossible for teachers to watch over every letter their students are writing and it's easy for them to develop bad habits. These printable cards are Montessori-inspired and self-correcting so your students can be as independent as possible and you don't have to worry that they are starting from the bottom. All you have to do is teach them to start the letter on the green dot and finish on the red dot.

Here are five reasons this resource will make things easier for you in your classroom:

  1. The cards are easy to prepare. Only two cuts on each page, and cutting lines are included.
  2. Children can work independently with the cards. The green and red dots help them start and end correctly.
  3. Different versions are included to suit your needs: no arrows, arrows for right-handed kids, arrows for left-handed kids, and a version with thicker lines, which you can use to make your own Montessori Sandpaper Letters.
  4. Cards indicate the number of strokes (1, 2, 3, or 4) so you can introduce them based on difficulty.
  5. The cards match all of my other Printing and Pre-Writing resources so you can be consistent in your teaching.
