SPANISH SCATTEGORIES: ¡Páreme la mano!

By La Llama Bilingüe

Scattegories is a fun and challenging board game that tests your creativity and quick thinking. I have recreated a classroom version for SPANISH LEARNERS called: ¡PÁREME LA MANO! also called in other countries, TUTTI FRUTI o PARA EL FUEGO. This is a fun game we used to play in school growing up in South America. I have tried in my own classroom and kids LOVE IT! This is such a great game to practice vocabulary and parts of the speech.

This product contains two versions of this game. One for individual play and one for a group game. There are a set of rules for both games but these are just suggested rules as you can set your own depending of the group of kids you teach. Kids will only need a dice, a white board marker and a wiper.

French past tense Imparfait or Passé Composé digital practice game

By Frenchified

This no-prep, self-grading French digital game will allow your students to practice choosing between the passé composé and imparfait. 30 different questions - each is a sentence in English where you would use either the imparfait or the passé composé to write the same sentence in French. Choosing correctly moves you on to the next question, choosing incorrectly causes you to go back and repeat the questions in that section. Students do not need to have mastered how to form either tense in French, this game is just to practice getting the concept of what things require each of the tenses.

Includes a Google drive, PowerPoint and PDF version of the game. Share with students as an individual assignment or work through the activity as a class on a smartboard.

If you enjoy these digital games, you might be interested in the Growing Bundle. Buy early = pay less. You will receive action to new vocabulary and grammar games as they are added. Don't see a topic you'd like to use? Drop me an e-mail at Heather@Frenchified.com with your request!

The Scarlet Letter Pre-Reading Activities | Puritan Era & Colonial New England

By TaughtOught Homeschooling

These three pre-reading activities are the perfect introduction to the literature unit for The Scarlet Letter by Nathanial Hawthorne. The activities are anticipatory and get students in the mindset of Puritan and Colonial New England life, put in the shoes of the community members of those times, learn some initial vocabulary, and have the opportunity to tie this all together by writing what they think the novel is about based on these pre-reading activities.

What does this product include?

  • One debate/discussion slideshow with 15 statements such as, "People should always be forgiven for their mistakes, no matter how serious the mistake."
  • One group/class game "Secret Sinner"
  • One printable worksheet with 8 vocabulary words such as "redemption" and "ostracism" for students to match with the definition. This worksheet has an added game in which when all the vocab words have been matched with their definition, students will unscramble the secret word (which is another vocab word), and they have space to write what they think the novel, The Scarlet Letter, is about based on the vocabulary words

How should I use these activities in the classroom?

You will ultimately determine how these three activities can be used, and they truly can be used in whichever order you see fit. And if you have a class full of students who are completely unfamiliar with the plot of The Scarlet Letter, I suggest completing the slideshow first, the Secret Sinner game second, and the worksheet third (or send it home as homework).

Grab the annotation-supported digital and print copy of the novel here.

Spanish Quiz Quiz Trade / Gallery Walk to discuss Spring Break/Vacation in past

By Spanish Teacher Stuff

Get your students out of their seats to ask and answer questions about their Spring breaks using the preterite tense.

This is a great community building or social emotional activity for your Spanish classroom. The questions center around what they did or did not do during Spring vacation.

One possible way to do Quiz Quiz Trade:

  1. Set a timer for the activity depending on how long you would like them to practice.
  2. Give one card to each student asking and answering the questions on their cards.
  3. After each student of the pair asks and answers the questions, the students switch cards and give each other a high five. The high five adds community-building to this activity.
  4. With his/her new card, s/he raises his/her hand to find a new partner to repeat the process.
  5. Teacher should circulate while the students are talking to encourage them to speak only Spanish.
  6. After the time is up, collect the cards and then discuss the questions/answers and any difficulties they had while answering the questions.

⭐️ This could also be used as a Gallery Walk. Hang the questions around the room or hallway and give the students the included handout with the numbers. They write down the answer to the corresponding question. For example, if the student is at question #5, she/he finds #5 on her/his sheet and writes the answer to the question.

⭐️ Other variations are included in the directions.
