French Lesson plan Comprehensible Input Le Cadeau Parfait

By Frenchified

Make learning French fun with this simple, comprehensible input French lesson plan and story. This lesson plan includes a story with targeted structures that can be repeated to give your students lots of repetitions. Comprehension activities to use after the story will allow you to engage your students and makes sure that your French lesson is truly comprehensible input.

Amadou wants to find the perfect gift for his mother's birthday. But somehow, his gifts don't work out. Can he find the right gift to show his love for her, or will she be disappointed? There are three targeted vocabulary structures that are used multiple times throughout the story. The targeted structures are:

  • le cadeau parfait

  • il veut lui donner

  • dans sa poche

This very simple story is told in two different ways. There is a printable text version, and an animated mp4 version. Tell the story as you watch it (pause if you want to stop and discuss or storyask!), or just watch it for comprehension. The video is just over 5 minutes long, with pause time for students to read the text. There is a second version of the video with only the illustrations - no text - so you can watch it and do story retells. With novice low and novice mid learners, you can tell the story as is. For novice high learners, you can add more details or write a parallel story. You could even use this story at higher levels by having students retell the story in the past.

Here’s what you’ll get in this French Comprehensible Input Lesson:

• Links to the videos both with and without the text

• A printable pdf version of the story

• Comprehension question worksheet

• "Who said it?" worksheet

• Story retell worksheet

• Answer key

French Conversation Lesson - l'Avion - Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking

By Love Learning Languages - French Resources

Looking for a way to show your students how real daily French conversations flow? This comprehensive French lesson will have your students reading, writing, listening, and speaking. The theme of this lesson is le billet d'avion. They'll get lots of exposure to real spoken French, while working on the four skills we strive to include in every lesson.

Included:

⭐  Video in French and English

⭐  Audio in French only

⭐  Fill in the blank exercise

⭐  Transcript in French

⭐  Role play situation in English

⭐  Useful sentences + expressions

Le billet d'avion - Airline ticket

  • You’ve just reserved and paid for a cheap flight online with Air France. Unfortunately, you notice that you have misspelled your name. This must be corrected or you’ll never be able to take your flight! You need to immediately call Air France and explain the situation. The employee doesn’t speak English, but together you find a solution. Your little mistake has turned into a fairly costly affair!

In the video, students will listen and read along as a typical French dialogue unfolds about un billet d'avion in France.

As students listen to the conversation, listening comprehension will improve, and they will learn lots of new vocabulary words and expressions. This is really the way French people interact, though it may never have shown up in the textbook!

The video lasts approximately two minutes, and it is easy to pause so that everyone has a chance to study the text.

The speech is not too fast in this video, and all of the words are written on the screen in French and with English translations.

The grammar in this conversation is quite varied. However, French learners at any level can learn a lot and benefit from these conversations through context. Your students will find the English translations to be most helpful, and they will see how it is nearly impossible to give direct translations from French to English.

LESSON PLAN (as you explain it to students):

Step 1: Watch the video and read along as you listen to the conversation. When you don't understand a word, just look down at the English translation. Be sure to take notes! It's ok if you don't understand all of the grammar. Just try to pay close attention to how the sentences are put together and how we do it differently in English.

Step 2: Listen to the audio recording without looking at the words and translations on the video. Do you remember what the words mean? You can use this recording to practice and fine tune your listening skills

Step 3: Print out the fill in the blank exercise, and write in the missing words as you listen to the recording. An answer key is provided. Once you have done this a few times, I challenge you to get out a blank sheet of paper and try writing it all! Just have that pause button ready!

Step 4: Read over the role play situation with a partner. Study the page with helpful French sentences and expressions, and invent your own dialogue. You can use some of what you learned in the video in your conversation!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "My students loved using this for being able to help them have conversations in class. Great resource!"

  2. Repetition-Based Learning: Utilize the power of repetition to solidify vocabulary retention. Students will practice writing place words multiple times, enhancing their memory and fluency.

By constructing responses, students connect the vocabulary to specific contexts, demonstrating their understanding of how the words are used. They must think about the meanings of the words, consider their spelling, and create clues that correspond to each word. This active involvement promotes deeper processing and understanding of the vocabulary.

French Listening and Reading Comprehension - French Expressions + Passé Simple

By Love Learning Languages - French Resources

Help your students improve their French with this practical listening and reading comprehension resource. It features key French expressions like:

- "Ça sent bon ici!"

- "Il a l'air triste."

- "Ça m'est égal."

- "Merci, c'est gentil."

- "Cela fait du bien de parler avec vous."

- "Cela me semble juste."

These expressions are embedded in the text, allowing students to practice making inferences, connections, and predictions. The resource includes ten comprehension questions that encourage careful reading or listening. This isn’t a beginner-level quiz, so it will challenge your students to think more deeply about the language.

* This resource is also available as a Google Form, a simple reading comprehension activity with multiple choice answers. The text and questions in the Google Form are the same as those in this comprehensive listening and reading resource.

What’s Included:

This resource has eight different parts that can be used for either reading or listening practice. Each part builds on the last, helping students understand and use the material effectively.

1. Reading Comprehension - Written Text: Start by having students read the text. You can let them read along while listening to the audio, helping them connect spoken and written French.

2. Listening Comprehension - Audio Recording: The text is read by François, a native speaker from Paris, at a normal pace. If students find it too fast at first, let them read along while listening, and then try listening without the text.

3. Listening Comprehension - Questions Audio Recording: After the text, students will hear questions read aloud, with a bell tone and a brief pause to give their answers. This helps them practice listening and responding in real time.

4. Listening Comprehension - Open-Ended Questions Worksheet: This worksheet allows students to write their answers to the spoken questions. For a more interactive experience, you can have them answer orally instead.

5. Reading Comprehension - Open-Ended Questions Worksheet: With the text in front of them, students answer questions in complete sentences, helping them to better understand and express their thoughts in French.

6. Reading Comprehension - Multiple Choice Questions Worksheet: This worksheet offers a multiple-choice format for students who might need a bit more support, making it easier to find the correct answers.

7. Cloze Activity - Fill in the Blanks: Students listen to the audio and fill in the missing words in the text. A word bank is provided, and you can use the original text as the answer key.

8. English Translation of Text + Multiple Choice Quiz Answer Key: An English translation of the text is included for reference, along with the answer key for the multiple-choice quiz. While the translation is helpful, the focus is on understanding the French text.

How to Use:

For best results, start with the reading activities so students become familiar with the text. After a few days or the following week, use the same material for listening practice. This will help reinforce what they’ve learned and improve their overall language skills.

French Comprehensible Input Lesson La pomme de terre seule

By Frenchified

Make learning French fun with this simple, comprehensible input French lesson plan and story. This lesson plan includes a story with targeted structures that can be repeated to give your students lots of repetitions. Comprehension activities to use after the story will allow you to engage your students and makes sure that your French lesson is truly comprehensible input.

Joe is a potato, and he's lonely. He's got a plan to find a girlfriend - but will it backfire? There are four targeted vocabulary structures that are used multiple times throughout the story. The targeted structures are:

  • seul

  • il s'est habillé

  • pensait

  • était

MINI-LEÇON/ATELIER DE LECTURE : FAIRE DES CONNEXIONS/LIENS | TEXTE/SOI/MONDE

By French Made Fun!

Vos élèves exploreront la stratégie de faire des liens et apprendront à intégrer cette stratégie dans leur lecture. Ce document couvre deux semaines d'atelier de lecture.

⁕⁕ Please see the preview for a full view of this document, with details in English. These descriptions and this product are entirely in French. ⁕⁕
