Complete The Pattern - Fall Learning | Apple Activities | Math Center
By Morgan Jeffries
Finish The Pattern:
This apple themed math activity focuses on continuing and completing different patterns. It teaches students how to identify a sequence and continue it using different colored apples. There are #6 different apple colors and the patterns range from easy to more difficult to identify and follow. There are a total of #113 different patterns for your students to complete. This is a great independent math activity to use during small groups.
I would print and laminate this activity for better durability and then store the remaining apple pieces you cut out in a container of some sort so they don’t get lossed after you cut them out.
I hope you and your students enjoy this product!

Introduction to Abacus, Subtraction Number 5-9
By Lynette Yung
In the activity, the pre-k and kindergarten students focus on subtracting numbers 5-9 with the abacus.
This activity helps with number sense and solidifies the number relationships. Students will be able to visualize take away/subtract numbers; they will see items becoming less. This also introduces students to decomposing numbers. This resource also has fun activities, like a game of who wins, color by number, puzzles, and a maze
In this activity, we are subtracting numbers 5–9. This is contained in one column of the abacus and all the bottom beads. Abacus is easy to understand; it promotes tactile learning.
The abacus used has 1 bead on top and 4 beads on the bottom. This activity focuses on the top bead (has a value of 5) and the bottom beads (has a value of 1 for each bead).
All the bottom beads have a value of 1, and the top bead has a value of 5.
If you are curious about the wonders of abacus, you can check out my blog.

Apple Theme Activities | Literacy Center | Math Center | (Bundle) Fall Learning
By Morgan Jeffries
Fall is one of my favorite times of the year! I love all the changing colors as the leaves begin to change and the changing weather as well. My goal during this time of the year is to bring some of that fall change into my classroom as well. One theme that I am able to do that with is the apple theme. There are SO many fun hands on learning activities that you can do with young learners that go with this theme. One of my student's favorite activities is always the apple tasting and graphing one!
In this bundle I have created multiple different apple themed learning activities to go with different centers including writing center, math center, literacy center and more. Below is a list of what's included in this bundle.
- Complete The Pattern (#113 different colorful apple patterns ranging from simple to more complex)
- Count & Match File Folder Game (Numbers 1-10)
- Alphabet Play-doh Mats (Uppercase & lowercase Letters Aa-Zz)
- Number Play-doh Mats With Ten Frames
- Trace It, Color It, Write It Alphabet Book - Writing Center
- Alphabet Letter & Number Tracing Cards - Writing Center
- Matching Game ( Shapes - Letters - Numbers)
More Information On Each Item:
The Alphabet Play-doh Mats have both Uppercase and lowercase Letters. This activity is great for not only hands on learning through play but also to help your students practice forming each letter of the alphabet. Each play-doh mat also has a picture of an item that starts with that letter.
The Number Play-doh mats also have ten frames on them. This helps your students practice counting and on-to-one correspondence.
The file folder game has #2 pages of apple baskets with numbers 1-10 on them that you will attach to a file folder. There are also counting cards with different numbers of apples on them for your students to count the amount of apples and match it to the corresponding number.
There are #113 different apple patterns ranging from simple to more complex for your students to identify and create. There are #6 different apple colors that are included in these patterns. This activity is perfect to include during rotations and center times. I would laminate the pattern pages as well as the apple pieces for better durability.
The Alphabet book is great for your literacy center and writing practice. Each page has both the Uppercase and lowercase letter on it. The students color, trace and then practice writing each Uppercase and lowercase letter of the alphabet.
The Matching Game has Uppercase and lowercase letter matching practice as well as number and shape cards. The number cards have a matching card with the corresponding number of apple seeds on each one. This helps students practice counting and one-to-one correspondence.
The letter tracing cards are also another great way for your students to practice writing each Uppercase and lowercase letter as well as numbers 1-10.
I hope you and your students love these products as much as I loved creating them!
Abacus Maze-Numbers 0 to 4 Mazes
By Lynette Yung
Counting and coloring Numbers 0 to 4 on the abacus in a maze. These number sense mazes are perfect for pre-k and kindergarten to gain awareness of the numbers 0–4. Students practice number recognition on both the numeral and the abacus. This also encourages students to subitize and use number sense.
There are 4 different mazes, and answer key.
What is subitizing?
Subitizing is the ability to quickly recognize the number of objects in a small group without counting them individually. It's essentially the ability to perceive the quantity of objects at a glance. This skill is particularly evident with small numbers, typically up to around 5 or 6 objects in this activity, 0–4.
What is number sense?
Number sense is the ability to identify and conceptualize numbers, like 1, 2, 3. The activity helps compare the abacus beads with the numerals.
